Default DASC driving me insane, pulleys

I will make this as easy as I can. This is for a 96 318ti with the kit not installed yet.

My used kit came with two of the cheap red pulleys. One is attached to the triangle bracket. The other is just a pulley. The other one is slightly different as it doesn't have a "lip" on both sides to guide the belt.

Going through the install instructions I can only see mention of the one pulley that goes on the triangle bracket.

What the heck is the second pulley for?

I want to buy new ones because I think they are bad but do I just need one pulley or two?
