I wanna run mustang injectors in my m42. i've heard it does some good, nothing amazing, but something. better mileage, etc. but.... has anyone here done it, without a dasc, or turbo? and what ones were they? i have a couple listings, but not sure which ones are the better, etc. purple ones out of a mustang are what i have as the most common of the lists i have. | | | 02-03-2010, 04:15 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Should i facepalm now, or later? __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 02-03-2010, 04:29 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | theres no point on running bigger injectors if u dont have turbo or DASH __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 02-03-2010, 04:35 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Calgary Posts: 70 | haha. it's not the bigger i want. it's mostly the 4 pintle. i've read in a few places that it'll help me get better mileage. and i've also never replaced the injectors in my car. so, anything will be an upgrade, but there's no bimmers in my wrecking yards, but tons of fords. | | | 02-03-2010, 05:05 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Does the M42 have the vacuum lines that run to the injectors? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 02-03-2010, 06:15 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Columbia MD Posts: 215 | Quote: Originally Posted by spidertri Does the M42 have the vacuum lines that run to the injectors? | Yes. And you're not likely to find them in a Mustang. But why is it that you think that the injectors need to be replaced? Why not just remove them and clean them? Where have you heard that running Ford injectors in a BMW is a good idea? __________________ *Except 318ti '97 318ti M-Sport '95 M3 BMWCCA Last edited by MPWR; 02-03-2010 at 06:18 AM. | | | 02-03-2010, 07:17 AM | #7 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Calgary Posts: 70 | m42club, and a few other bmw forums. some are running dasc or turbos. im just wondering if it's worth it. apparently theyre about the same pressure: "The ford injector is part number 0280150556 210.0 cc/min at 43.7psi (3 bar) M42 injector is 0280150714 213.9 cc/min at 43.7psi (3 bar) M50 injector is 0280150415 190.2 cc/min at 50.75psi" but the ford ones are 4 pintle, where ours are single, which results in better atomization... no idea if it's beneficial, but thought it'd be worth a try, seeing as i can get fords for dirt cheap. and they're not ford parts, really. it's all bosch. it's just too bad about the vaccuum line thing. i forgot that. shoot... back to the drawing board. haha thanks guys.
