The v12s arent as heavy as you think they are. THey dont weigh too much more than the m50 and m52. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 05-02-2007, 07:08 PM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: The Netherlands Posts: 28 | Those weights are not correct. The new E92 M3 V8 for example weighs 202 kg which is 15 kg's lighter than the E46 M3 3.2 six-inline. | | | 05-02-2007, 07:12 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Quote: Originally Posted by CirrusSR22 | This is correct... the ENTIRE engine. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 05-02-2007, 07:20 PM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: The Netherlands Posts: 28 | The V12 M70 on that website is said to be 150 kg. That's the weight of the bare longblock only. No manifolds, no starter etc. Total weight of the M70 is 522 lbs or 236 kg. So I wouldn't rely on those bimmerforum figures. | | | 05-03-2007, 06:09 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Greece Athens Posts: 302 | Quote: Originally Posted by Joy The V12 M70 on that website is said to be 150 kg. The aluminum M52B25 weighs 169 kg and the new N54 aluminum-magnesium block 3.0lt weighs 169kg... the figures in there are totally unreliable. __________________ Alpina front lip spoiler,ACS roof spoiler,OEM clear rear-side lights,In-Pro blackchrome front indicators,Lummar tinted glasses,318ti.org decalls,Eibach Sportline 45mm/30mm springs,Bilstein Sprint shocks,16mm rear sway bar, front eccentric wishbone bushes,E46 conv. Of course I want to use the lightest weight, best power potential engine available. So below is the short block engine weights as advertised on www.realoem.com Listed from lightest to heaviest. M44 318ti 95.5kg/210lbs M52B28 Z3 ONLY Aluminum block 117kg/258lbs M52TUB28 Z3, E46 etc. Aluminum block 127kg/280lbs M54B30 Z3, E46 etc. Aluminum block 130.5kg/288lbs M52B28 E36, E39 etc. Iron block 135kg/298lbs M50TUB25 E36, E34 etc. Iron Block 135kg/298lbs Sorry to revive this old thread ... just thought I would add some good info to complete it. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | 15mm pad install problem | hotdog19d | Suspension | 11 | 04-29-2005 04:42 AM | |
