Exclamation Check engine light=[

Today scanned my car and had 2 codes
-PO130-O2 sensor circuit Malfunction(Bank1 sensor1)
-PO340-Camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction(bank1)

So do I replace these sensors and the CEL will go away?
and doesnt the 96 318ti have 2 O2 sensors?

Before you go throwing parts at it, clear the codes, drive the car for a couple hundred miles, then recheck the codes and see if anything came back. Sometimes you'll get a one-time malfunction that will get stored by the computer. Since your CEL is currently illuminated, that's a good indicator that something is faulty(usually emissions related), but you should make sure the problem still exists before replacing expensive sensors or components

Yes, '96 and newer(OBDII) models have pre-cat and post cat o2 sensors. Bank1 Sensor 1 is the pre-cat. I like to replace o2 sensors in pairs if finances permit, but they are a little pricey Just make sure you buy Bosch OEM sensors, not the cheap stuff you see on ebay.

If you work on the engine and forget to plug something it, it will trigger a CEL and a code. So you may want to disconnect the battery for five min to clear, then drive it around.

Never mind you have a 96 its obd II

Its pretty easy bro
just remove the upper intake manifold not completly just remove the bolts so you can move it to have remove to remove the camsensor connector near the fuel injectors and make sure to disconnect ur battery before working on the car

Yeah mine didn't throw a CEL
just disconnect the battery and don't completely removed the intake manifold so u don't have to remove the throttle sensor and the sensors that are connected to the intake manifold
all I did was the remove the bolts from the intake removed the intake boot and the little breather hose that connects from fuel rail to the intake manifold so I could lift it up and move to the right to get access to the camsensor connector
