Default Wiper issue

The 97 Ti I picked up has the wipers stuck in the upright position. The car was in a minor front end colision prior to the wipers getting stuck. The hood open switch (I think thats what it is) has been "closed" with a zip tie and the wipers still don't work. Anything else I should try?

*Even though the fuse looked good, it turned out to be bad*

I'm waiting on a new brake light switch to remedy the no brake light situation

Make sure in the collision the hood was not pushed back in to the wipers. Could have damaged the arm or wiper motor.

The hood was not displaced/pushed back in the accident. The right front corner of the hood was pushed down during the accident.

I would still check the arm or motor. Arm might have come disconnected some how. I assume you checked the fuse?

The brake lights don't work either. Didn't get time to check fuses/relays but I'll report back tomorrow

Sounds like a circuit problem. Test each fuse with a ddm. Test for the same voltage on both points on each fuse. If there's none on one side then that fuse is bad. Or if the voltage is a huge difference. Example; 12v on one side and 10v on the other, that fuse is bad. Good luck and let us know what you Find.

I took a quick look at the fuses and all seem to be intact. My car has the stub for a rear wiper (not sure if it ever worked but I installed a wiper arm) and the switch does not make that go. Nothing related to the wipers works, no squirters, nothing. Sounds like a switch? Maybe it was jammed during the accident?

Brake lights, if the brake light switch was bad, would the lights stay on? There isn't a check panel in this car like my E30 has, should there be? I ordered a Bentley manual and am hoping that clears up a few of my questions.

I'm going through the fuse box with a fine tooth comb this week. Any other suggestions? Relays? The bodywork is almost done, just gotta hang the bumper, headlight, grill and fender. Hope to be "done" this week!
