I just replaced ball joints, control arms, bushings, and tie rods. All can say is NIGHT and DAY difference. The car drives like brand new. Everything is unbelievably tight. If your car has over 120k its just waiting for replacements. I didn't realize how bad my ball joints were until I had them off the car, not a single one was not torn open! __________________ -Jeff | | | 01-21-2009, 07:26 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | please post where you got your parts from ? and how much did you spend? __________________ was the 1 an only Bagged Ti on 19's!! | | | 01-21-2009, 08:59 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Southern California - Orange county Posts: 978 | lol my car has 235,000 miles i think i need to change them __________________ 1995 318ti Cosmos Black Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport, Depos w/ angeleyes and HID 5K, 50% short throw kit, Custom fogged intake, AC schnitzer pedels w/ deadpedels, leather stickshift knob, vitesse tuning Ebreak boot w/ shift boot, X-Brace, 325/328 brake upgrade, Gray millpoint leather and cloth interior, custom computer multimedia system, and Style 5 BBS 17" rims, M3 Mirrors, CF Hood | | | 01-21-2009, 02:27 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Devon U.K. Posts: 34 | I have just had my TI tested, Dot. OR MOT as it used to be and had a advisory that the drivers side lower link ball joint has a small amount of play in it. The tester seemed to think that it is a weak point in the BMW and has seen several with worn joints at lower Mileage than mine 53000 mls. I have noticed that i can feel things like joins in the road surface & road markings back through the steering recently so it will be interesting to see if replacing the ball joint will cure that. In the UK we have a company G.S.F. who supply OEM quality parts at half the cost of BMW. | | | 01-21-2009, 04:51 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | well, here's another summer project for when I get the ti out | | | 01-21-2009, 05:06 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Rocky Mountains Posts: 610 | I replaced the bushings 3 months ago at about 65,000. That alone was a night and day difference and getting new snow tires helped too. | | | 01-21-2009, 06:30 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | I got mine locally from some guy who never installed the parts then sold his car. But he bought them from Bavauto. __________________ -Jeff | | | 01-21-2009, 11:28 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: Cocoa, FL Posts: 73 | I recently replaced mine (control arms and bushings). I got everting from Bav Auto. I bought the bushings in the mounts for about $50 each and the contol arms (with the Meyle all-metal ball joints) were about $100 each. I couldn't be happier with the feel of my front end now!!! | | | 03-06-2009, 05:08 AM | #9 | Member Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: Cocoa, FL Posts: 73 | Test __________________ | | | 03-10-2009, 06:31 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Scotland coatbridge Posts: 197 | i change my front wishbones and front rear doughnut bushes just over every year as big wheels eat the balljoints feels great tho once changed i need to replace my rear bushes now as they are banged up if you like DRIFT then keep them warn but if you like nice and stiff again get them changed __________________ | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
