Hey there, I was just under the bonnet ( hood ) of mine today filling up the windscreen washer and I noticed that on one of the plates on the suspension mount had the word 'individual' on it. Ive heard the word 'individual' mentioned a few times but whats the difference between one and a standard Sport for instance? Sorry for all the dumb newbie questions...I just want to be an expert Ti owner by the years end | | | 12-04-2008, 12:38 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Individual usually refers to a car that has options that it normally would not have. It might be a special color paint or interior. Can you take a picture of the plate? I would be interested to see what that looks like. Have you had Mallard decode your VIN? It might tell you what that plate refers to. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 12-04-2008, 12:49 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: UK Posts: 38 | Yes, ill take a pic and post it up tomorrow! I thought the UK SE was considered an Individial since they where Dakar Yellow. Come to think of it, the California Edition in the US was an Individual. I doubt if the VIN will be there. My guess it's only US VINs. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-04-2008, 02:46 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | Ahem... I had one. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-04-2008, 08:01 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | Dude , give me the Vin and ill find out what the Indi spec is chances are its interior colour on the stering wheel, and possibly paint colour.. but you never can tell __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! I wonder if they only did that if the color was individual. | | | 12-06-2008, 05:06 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-06-2008, 05:07 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | Individual is anything paint, interior (seat coverings and steering wheel) and roof cover that the customer specified from the Individual catalogue. The catalogue was included in every customer options list, But isn΄t classified as an "option".. Although the indi roof colour was only available in black, the referance has also become known as "sport" roof lining. __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! I wanted my 98 in Dakar Yellow. I called and called. Finally I got a hold of someone at BMW NA and confronted him, is there such a thing as the Individual Program? They finally got back to me. I could have my Dakar Yellow for an additional, I think $1500, but no guarantee when it would be built. In other words. Sure, you can have your Dakar Yellow for a price. But we will make it when we feel like it. It wasn't worth $1500 to me and thank goodness I didn't get it. Dakar Yellow seemed to fade anyway. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti 2003 MINI Cooper S 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-06-2008, 08:52 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: UK Posts: 38 | Mallard did the business and pulled all the info of the VIN number I was suprised by some of the items that were included under the 'Individual' program http://www.318ti.org/forum/showpost....&postcount=877 Big thanks to Mallard for being the guru | | | 12-07-2008, 05:52 PM | #14 | Member Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: UK Posts: 38 | Heres a pic of the plate as promised! | | | 12-07-2008, 06:29 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | was your that steering whell stock? they came onthe the Z3, maybe that's what's individual about your car isnce the only other peoeple I'cve seen have added them onthmselves | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
