Default coolant system has me stranded.

Alright did a flash of coolant system, had a no heat and overheating problem, read here's thread on flushing the air out. Did two cycles no bubble. Thought I was good. Drive it sounds town it was good. Then tried to go 40 miles away. Ran fine until I left idle for about 10 minutes temp was at half steam started boiling out. Shut her down let engine cool. Happened again. My heat blow cold now. No radiator fan, stream mainly coming from heater cite I, blown line? Thermostat got stuck? Can I limp her home? I can add warm water long as engine is running right? I would search threads but i'm stranded at a gas station. Car died on me, coasted it into parking lot luckily. Help please?

If coolant is pouring out of somewhere it's better to just get a tow. Any time the needle goes well above the middle you are increasing your chance of needing to do the headgasket and possibly a warped/cracked head. To me, 40 mile tow is a lot cheaper than paying for headgasket/head job.

No heat = not enough coolant circulating in heater core. If I read your post right, sounds like broken coolant block y-pipe at the back next to the firewall.

Unless you have all your tools and spare parts with you to do repairs, I agree with spidertri, get it towed home... you run a very high risk of serious head/engine damage if you try and drive/limp it home...

I do have my full toolbox with me! Let's look under here and see. Tow will be over a hundred. Question is how can I McGuyver a fix?

Pipe or a hose?

I see two hoses coming out of the heater core they appear to be intact, no liquid is spilling out. Just stream when it gets hot. You're saying there should be no place for steam to escape there?

EDIT: oh wait more I see it, huge waterfall behind engine. So its coming from where you say? Guess its tow time

Sounds like the y-pipe alright... Sorry there isn't a quick McGuyver fix.. (Very cheap part to replace, it's just a pain to do, but much cheaper than a warped head...)
