ABS light lit At first I though it was cold brakes. The second thought was deposits on the rotors. That was at least what James Clay and TC Kline thought. Man, I love it at the track ![Smile](http://www.318ti.org/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) James took my car out for several laps and that seemed to help. Next session, still shaking and getting worse. I did not think it was rotors. A BMW tech from Kelly BMW felt the tire. Something did not feel right. Then he noticed the torn mounts. They have been like that forever. This weekend was the time they decided to give up. I couldn't find a set so I drove home early. Now. Everyone is telling me to do camber plates. Need someone to help you spend money? Go to the track. My car is already pretty low with the H&R race springs. People are telling me camber plates will drop the car. I can't go lower unless I go with adjustable coilovers or replace the springs. So. Stick with the factory upper mounts since I have no choice unless I want to drop more money than the car is worth? Is it an easy DIY job? It looks like I don't need to compress the spring at all. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-05-2008, 02:34 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Odenton, MD Posts: 419 | They are easy to do. I used the ones for the Z4. They are aluminum. You just have to remove a locating pin. I will second going for camber plates. Contact Vorslag. I'd be surprised if they lowered your car any lower than another 1/4", TOPS. | | | 03-05-2008, 02:44 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Great White North! Posts: 701 | Actually camber plates raise the height but a minimal amount. If they have the integrated bushings/bearings the strut has to be removed, therefore a spring compressor is necessary. Any lower and it will be undriveable on the street. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-05-2008, 04:17 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Great White North! If it's for a track only car they would be perfect. __________________ ![](image.php?s=294de2384826a702e365e3e0198ce633&u=1584&type=sigpic&dateline=1203460635) Engine: 2.1L Hartge conversion (bored to 86X91mm, ported & polished head, new valves, new crank, & upgraded ECU), Supersprint SS headers, Hartge exhaust, custom cat bypass (track), KV85 wires, Bosch platinum plugs, Vitesse cf spark plug cover, Vitesse cf CAI, Samco hoses, Fiamm air horns. Might be worth a call to Pete at TcKline to see how much just going with their plates will lower the car. I'm really happy with my TcK plates. | | | 03-06-2008, 02:38 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by mohaughn The TcKline plates are more expensive than the Vorshlag plates but they look to be just as well made, if not better/lighter.
