I want to order these fog light covers from bavauto but I'm not sure they will fit the bumper I have on my car now. Help me out. The bav-auto part numbers are: Part # : 51 11 8 122 449 and Part # : 51 11 8 122 450 __________________ | | | 01-04-2009, 10:09 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | According to realoem, they are both for stock bumpers. There are different ones for different years and they are left/right. Neither say M-Tech. Edit: You don't have a BMW bumper, do you? Who TF knows what will fit? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-04-2009, 11:03 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Rensselaer, NY Posts: 254 | As far as I know it's a BMW bumper... __________________ | | | 01-04-2009, 11:11 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by DaedHead8 As far as I know it's a BMW bumper... | I don't recall ever seeing a slat over the brake duct. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-04-2009, 11:14 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Rensselaer, NY Posts: 254 | I'm at a loss then. I guess I'll order them and if they don't fit I'll resell 'em. If anybody else has any ideas about what my bumper is, let me know. __________________ | | | 01-04-2009, 11:18 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | They'll probably fit, or be real close. I do wonder what changed that there are different blanks for the stock bumper depending pre or post 9/96. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-05-2009, 12:17 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti I don't recall ever seeing a slat over the brake duct. | it's just the earlier E36 bumper, the fog deletes should fit fine | | | 01-05-2009, 12:27 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak it's just the earlier E36 bumper, the fog deletes should fit fine | An earlier M-Technic bumper? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-05-2009, 12:52 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Rensselaer, NY Posts: 254 | No I think he means just the earlier regular trim. I think he's right. __________________ | | | 01-07-2009, 08:01 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Rensselaer, NY Posts: 254 | I ordered them on sunday and they came yesterday (2 days) when I payed for the 5-7 day delivery. That just goes to show you, never pay 20 extra dollars for overnight delivery, it's just a rip off. Anyways, here are some pics of the covers in the bumper, I think it looks sweet: __________________ | | | 01-07-2009, 08:15 PM | #11 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | It definitely looks better than with just the empty holes. Now you just need to "go all the way" and paint them blue. :-) If your car is wired for fog lights and you have the knob on the dash, you can get a replacement set for about $50. However, given that there's still a bit of mystery about your bumper, it's uncertain that the replacements would mount easily. I'll dig up the URL for the place I got mine if you need it. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! Always comes the next day if I place the order in the morning. Your car looks good btw! __________________ BMWCCA #403399 2012 Mini Cooper S Clubman, 6-Speed Loaded 2001 325xi, Winter Package, 5-Speed Traded 1998 318ti, Active, Automatic, TOTAL LOSS R.I.P. 10/20/08 Bilstein Sport Shocks/Struts . The problem is the bracket is missing for the foglight on the passenger side. I don't really mind though, I can live without fogs until I order the M replacement bumper from DDM. Also, I kinda like the way the covers look while black, I've seen it on other cars and I like it more then when I see them painted body color, like on my brothers car. Any other opinions on this? I'm curious. Edit: I won't be painting anything until the spring anyways, when I order the bumper and hopefully a set of M mirrors as well. I'm really just glad the holes are gone. =) __________________ | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
