A previous owner jimmyed it to work. The key was inserted into the ignition and upon trying to start the car...it spun without engagement. We call this Tumbler Spin. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...inning+tumbler __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 02-22-2015, 05:23 PM | #12 | Member Join Date: Feb 2015 Location: Vermont Posts: 60 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one Ok, you're car had one of two issues...or both. My motor is more than likey shot, so the car will be sitting for a while. Unless it's an in expensive fix, it will be siting for the next 4 months while I gather parts for the s52. I just really don't like how it is, really bothering me lol, what am I looking at, just a new tumbler? | | | 02-22-2015, 05:26 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Then there is a problem with the car not being able to release the steering wheel lock. Ths is a spring in the steering wheel that gets all catywompus and locks $hit up...it's a PITA with an easy repair at the end of the day. (Now that I think aboutit...this isn't your problem) For the sake of conversation...I'll continue my description. Here is a link to this issue: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...g+wheel+unlock Follow the links to BimmerForums __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 02-22-2015, 05:29 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | For some reason I have more to offer today. There is a chip in the key. There is a ring on the ignition switch that reads the chip. If the key has the chip removed and taped close to that ring...the car will start without a chipped key. But, the key must fit the tumblers and such. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 02-22-2015, 05:31 PM | #15 | Member Join Date: Feb 2015 Location: Vermont Posts: 60 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one For some reason I have more to offer today.
