Instructions are a little sparse with this kit. While sizing up the job, I noticed not a thing mentioned about pulling apart the cluster and activating the Fog Light indicator. Anyone have any similar experiences installing a "less than factory" fog kit that can give me some pointers? I sure would like to activate the indicator if possible. Thanks! writeb | | | 02-22-2004, 10:07 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Silicon Valley, CA Posts: 77 | also, by the way. I can't seem to find that article on setting up the fogs to work independantly from the high beams. I have a feeling if I install the lights the way the Depo instructions indicate, I wont have to worry about it anyways! But if anybody can point me towards that article, it will be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.... | | | 02-22-2004, 02:36 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I doubt that the fog light indicator bulb is there. There is really nothing to pull apart other than to pull out the cluster to add the bulb. I need to do that myself today. You probably won't find any official instructions on how to connect the fogs with the high beams. It's illegal in the US. Normal operation is for the fogs to go off when the highbeams are on. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-29-2004, 06:36 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Silicon Valley, CA Posts: 77 | Did you pull the cluster and add the bulb yet? What was the procedure? writeb | | | 02-29-2004, 02:24 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by writeb Did you pull the cluster and add the bulb yet? It is possible to remove the cluster without removing the steering wheel but it does take a lot of patience. You need to pull the cluster out and turn the steering wheel to allow for some space. There are 3 or 4 connectors that get unclipped. I haven't pulled the cluster yet. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-01-2004, 04:46 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Westchester, NY Posts: 234 | If you wire the kit as indicated with the instructions They will work independently of the high beams....You may drive with all 6 of your lights working (on those especially dark roads!) while it is illegal (to drive that way) I 'd rather eat the ticket than play guess work in a twisty dark road, there are plenty where I live. ;} | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
