Default Roof Rack mounts

Hi guys, just joined from London, UK. I bought a 318ti in December to tow my track bike to and from circuits and am enjoying it in its own right! Does anyone know where I can pick up a pair of rear mounts for the OEM roof bars? Dealers are saying they are no longer available. It seems a shame to get rid of the bmw bars for aftermarket ones but looks like there might not be a choice; I bought these off ebay before reslising the rear mounts were not the same as the fornt. D'oh. I've seen the threads here regarding similar questions; I'm assuming it's a common problem with no easy fix? Thanks in advance Dave

Hi Dave! Are you referring to the rear roof mounts that clamp the rack to the roof, or rear mounts for the bike support assembly?

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes I mean the bit that secures the rack to the car...read here that there maybe a Thule part you can use but rang Thule and they thought not, but he wasn't sure!
It's just that the rear mounts differ from the front on the roof, and I'm struggling to find a mount for the rear bar.
Cheers

If you're using Thule components, 1014 fit kit is what you need. It's not a common one...couldn't find it locally at all (Phx, AZ) and we have a ton of bike shops. I ordered it from rackattack.com, based out of Colorado. If you just need rears take a look at the costs and see if it's worth it. There's a thread on here somewhere about modifying another kit to fit.

1014 is the traverse fit kit, your other option is the older style which is fit kit 225. If you get the e36 front brackets (all 4 are the same) then all you need is the rears which is bracket #100. According to this link you can get the 2 number #100 brackets from another kit (which is what I did) here's your options for the last 2 pieces

225 (which is the ti kit that no one can find)
BMW 300 Compact, 1994-

2178
DODGE Magnum, 5-dr Estate, 05-
CHRYSLER 300C, 5-dr Estate, 05-

2193 (the one I found locally)
HONDA Accord, 4-dr Sedan, 08-

Those 3 all have the #100 rear brackets which you need. Again the front brackets are in the Ti fit kit and e36 fit kit only, honestly to me those are the harder ones to find. But if you find an e36 kit and someone else is willing to go in with you it'll cut the cost down as you can both take a pair of brackets as they're all the same.

That's all the older style square bars mind you, if you already have attachments for the newer style then you'll need to find the newer style fit kit as mentioned before.
