Sealed is there anyone out there with a pretty good knowledge of car audio who can tell me the difference between the two boxes and which would be better for deeper bass? | | | 05-01-2008, 01:53 AM | #2 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Wikipedia? __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! I've had both and prefer sealed. | | | 05-01-2008, 03:31 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | ported causes more air to be produced which equals more bass. i highly recommend ported! makes a huge difference in bass and im sure your going for more bass than a perfect quality. it also depends on what kind of cubic space your sub needs and also how the box is ported you dont simply just slice a hole in the box and expect ported sound __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-01-2008, 12:01 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | comparisons between a fosgate 10" sealed and a 15" ported tube The tube was louder and more "raw" The sealed had a much more richer, heavier sound. I reckon the difference was because the fosgate was a better quality unit, but if the amp (1000 w ) that was running the tube had been hooked to the sealed, then the sealed would have took it. The ported seemed best for Drum&Bass The sealed felt best for R&B. __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! I know I have to cut the hole and add the tube, cut to a certain length but I'm not sure about the details (tube size/length) this time I did search and couldn't find out how to figure that stuff out, it's a 12" 500w RMS dual voice-coil sub running off a 480w amp in a 1.3 cu. ft. box if anyone knows how too calculate it, or would I just be better off buying a ported box? | | | 05-01-2008, 11:09 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-01-2008, 11:15 PM | #9 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | just freakin' build a pair of el-pipe-o's and be done with it son! http://www.passdiy.com/projects/el-pipe-o-1.htm __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 05-01-2008, 11:25 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | holy crapola! ftw! __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-01-2008, 11:53 PM | #11 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Wowie wow wow wow...
