At the moment I don't have the money to get Bilsteins with lowering springs all round but am looking into it for the future. My question is will it be worth getting Bilsteins just for the rear for now then upgrade the rest later (currently all stock) or will this bugger the handling/ride? Thanks for any help in advance. | | | 01-22-2008, 12:46 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Southern California - Orange county Posts: 978 | its best to change the suspension all at once __________________ 1995 318ti Cosmos Black Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport, Depos w/ angeleyes and HID 5K, 50% short throw kit, Custom fogged intake, AC schnitzer pedels w/ deadpedels, leather stickshift knob, vitesse tuning Ebreak boot w/ shift boot, X-Brace, 325/328 brake upgrade, Gray millpoint leather and cloth interior, custom computer multimedia system, and Style 5 BBS 17" rims, M3 Mirrors, CF Hood | | | 01-22-2008, 02:46 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Check out the Bilstein Tourings for now. They are cheaper and are more like the stock shocks. | | | 01-22-2008, 03:55 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | I changed to Bilstein HDs doing the rear first and fronts a few months later without a problem. But, I stayed with the stock springs. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-22-2008, 09:50 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Farnborough, UK Posts: 64 | Oh yeah, springs are staying stock, so should be okay? What about with Bilstein sports? | | | 01-22-2008, 03:54 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Great White North! Posts: 701 | The Bilstein Sports are an inch shorter and are valved for shorter springs. I would recommend the HDs for the stock springs. You will definitely feel an improvement over the OE set up. Also, consider buying from this guy, he hooked me and many other members up with good deals and great service on Bilsteins. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-29-2008, 03:54 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Great White North!
