It's more than just running a scan with any antivirus software. I do this every day and believe me it's a hard thing and sometime takes me few hours depending of the virus __________________ '96 BMW 318ti Hellrod 5SPD - SOLD '04 BMW X3 2.5L Alpine White PRM PKG Automatic/Steptronic PRM PKG - SOLD '01 BMW M3 6SPD Imola Red Luxury PKG '11 BMW X5 xdrive35d - 3.0L Twin-Turbo Diesel - The Ultimate Oil Burner | | | 03-28-2008, 09:24 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | also a good idea is running it with the computer in safe mode. it will find more problems. how about spybot S&D __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-28-2008, 09:27 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I think I have that somewhere on the computer, I'll run it after ad-aware | | | 03-28-2008, 09:29 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | here this will help http://www.testmy.net/t-3924 if you do all this i promise a faster computer. it takes time though __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-28-2008, 09:41 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Toledo, OHIO Posts: 332 | http://www.avast.com/ i use this. Go to save mode without networking (press F8 when booting) 2. disable system restore 3. use 'cleanup!' to clean the temp internet files 4. use 'hijackthis' but be careful what do you delete, if you don't know don't touch or you can damage windows 5. open c:\windows folder and order the files by date, look at the latest files for suspicious .exe and .dll files and delete them, be careful if you don't know better don't touch or you can damage windows 6. open c:windows\system32 folder do the same as step 5 7. scan with spybot search and destroy 8. scan with adaware 9. restart in normal windows mode 10. scan for viruses with any antivirus software If you still cannot clean it, send it to me and I'll take care of it http://www.elitex.net __________________ '96 BMW 318ti Hellrod 5SPD - SOLD '04 BMW X3 2.5L Alpine White PRM PKG Automatic/Steptronic PRM PKG - SOLD '01 BMW M3 6SPD Imola Red Luxury PKG '11 BMW X5 xdrive35d - 3.0L Twin-Turbo Diesel - The Ultimate Oil Burner | | | 03-28-2008, 11:15 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | there is a reason the latest/greatest/most up to date costs money. Go sell your stash and buy something! I use trendmicro (there is a free scan link on the testmy.net page above) and my company uses CA Anti Virus. I run ccleaner everyday to get rid of internet stuff. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 03-28-2008, 11:21 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by 96cali there is a reason the latest/greatest/most up to date costs money. Information on the link he posted is great. For antivirus, I use AVG Free. BTW, what exactly happened? You simply say you got a bad virus/spyware from a website. Which virus/spyware? From what website? The more info we have the easier it is to help and give advice.
