Default Headlights

Dont come on instantly when I pull the switch.
They usually flicker on and off a couple of times before staying on.
Is this just a relay 'thinking about it' or have I got a fault somewhere.

Is it both lights tha flicker, or just one?
I've had tarnished connectors in the past.
