Close and comfortable enough to have the best control of the car.

I put sport suspension parts on the left side of the car, and base/active stuff on the right to give the car a subtle 'gangsta lean to the left.' Makes it a little more natural feeling to lean my head on the door while I cruise.

Once I save up some money, I'm thinking about doing this RIGHT and putting some airbags on the left (like dguzzardo22), and rally suspension stuff on the right (like DaveKern). That'll be some sweet, sweet leanin'.

Seriously though... I'm short, so I've got the seat a little higher than most folks probably do. That's mostly to better see out the back. If I recall, I've got the fore-aft set so that my wrist touches the steering wheel and I can comfortably reach the A/C & radio controls.

If your seat is back more than about 15 degrees. Its REALLY bad in a wreck.

I'll skip the gory details but its bad...

+1

Let's just say that the more reclined the seat back is, the less effective the shoulder belt and airbag becomes in an accident. When you are sitting upright, you are thrown into the belt upon impact; the more horizontal you become, the greater the chance that you will be thrown out of the belt instead of into it.
