Customer states it is over heating. Drove car, yep it's over heating but takes for ever to warm up. Dealer said car needs a head gasket at $3,000 which it didn't need, did a wasted leak down test myself cause the dealer said exhaust in cooling system. Here is the cause which took me a few hours to figure out. Nice work by someone | | | 09-19-2013, 01:21 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Nice. With the T-stat gutted the water just goes from bottom hose to top hose through the passage. If you don't block with passage with a t-stat there is no way to circulate the water through the engine. At least that is what it looks like to me. Replacing it took care of the over heating issue, I hope. Customer says all is good and I drove 22 miles to try to make it over heat and couldn't get it to do it. Also checked the water pump which was new, replaced the mechanic fan with 2 electric 3,000CFM fans, sealed the cooling cassette to the rad and condenser. All these mods made the car move a lot of air through the radiator and I'm 99% sure all is taken car of. The mechanic fan clutch was so bad I could hold it with my hand while the car idled. | | | 09-21-2013, 03:33 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Nice work my friend __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
