Some also track them. I am not one of them yet, but hope to be in the future. | | | 07-21-2005, 04:41 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Mt. Laurel, NJ Posts: 390 | check out streetfire.net there is a video of a ti auto xing. seems to be doin good, i heard alotta good things about tis handling, cuz of he shorter wheel base or somethin, i might be wrong though, if u do suspension upgs then bmws handle great. __________________ Intake, Sony mp3/cd player, remus cat-back exhaust, | | | 07-21-2005, 04:54 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Eagan, MN Posts: 36 | Quote: Originally Posted by barische check out streetfire.net there is a video of a ti auto xing. seems to be doin good, i heard alotta good things about tis handling, cuz of he shorter wheel base or somethin, i might be wrong though, if u do suspension upgs then bmws handle great. | Here is the link: http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....015E&kw=13&p=4 | | | 07-21-2005, 05:05 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Tampa Posts: 465 | the shorter the wheel base the worse it can handle in the turns. I am actually having A LOT of problems keeping it from drifting the rear end, as i am so used to the handling my M3 offewrs. it is VERY tail happy, I have H&R springs, a roll bar , biltein sports and other suspension upgrades...and still not satisfied. I mught end up selling my suspension and getting Ground control coilovers...so keep ur eyes open for this 5000 mile used suspension!. I will be autoX ing the 332 in a couple of weeksm and I'll let u all know what the outcome is. I am NOT too confident at this point. I am waiting for my new rear tires, 245408 on a yokohama or a Bf Goodrich KDWS | | | 07-21-2005, 05:14 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Eagan, MN Posts: 36 | Tail Happy? Are you braking hard during turns? That is a major no-no in the MR2. I bet you can cure a lot of that via driving style or adjusting the toe and tire pressures. Check out the Kuhmo MX's for good tires for the $. They have been pretty good track/autox/street tires. Not as good at the Falkens for autoxing, but better on the track and street. | | | 07-21-2005, 09:30 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Quote: Originally Posted by barische check out streetfire.net there is a video of a ti auto xing. seems to be doin good, i heard alotta good things about tis handling, cuz of he shorter wheel base or somethin, i might be wrong though, if u do suspension upgs then bmws handle great. | The ti doesn't have a short wheelbase, it's 106.3" like any other E36 which is quite long for cars in the subcompact class. That ti you mentioned on streetfire.net is doing well because it is highly modded, I know because quillbro just bought it and I've driven the car. Was owned by kiley_sean from Bimmerforums. It has an S50 swap, is lowered with H&R springs and has Bilstein shocks running on 245/40 17's. This car would not be running in a stock class in SCCA autocross but against some very potent cars in E Modified which are production based cars greater than 2 liters. | | | 07-21-2005, 12:31 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Eagan, MN Posts: 36 | Actually if it has a full interior is would be a SM canidate. I would think a 318ti with a M3 motor and SC would be a contender in SM. | | | 07-21-2005, 01:22 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Tampa Posts: 465 | my car has the same suspension H&R springs, bilsteins, swaybars, roll cage F & R strut tower bars... and truly... it SUCKS! I don't know if it's just too light on the rear.... but I am hoping the change of tires and an adjustment do the trick. | | | 07-21-2005, 03:47 PM | #10 | doesn't care about you. I'ver heard for a lot of people that a supercharger ti is one of the best auto-x car out there. Stop auto-xing your car and start drifting it. Wouldn't it be cool to see a built ti in D1 competitions?? __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 07-21-2005, 08:59 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | I have no problems with my ti oversteering. I have my rebound and compression set higher in the front and about a half turn lower in the back. On the rare occasion that I do get oversteern when I don't want it, which is usally my fault, it is never very much and very easy to correct. Maurolin, check out coil-overs. I think they will help. Especially if they are rebound and compression adjustable. | | | 07-22-2005, 12:53 AM | #12 | Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Eagan, MN Posts: 36 | Quote: Originally Posted by maurolin my car has the same suspension H&R springs, bilsteins, swaybars, roll cage F & R strut tower bars... and truly... it SUCKS! Adjust struts if you can. (Lower the rears) 2. Try firming up the front tires and lowering pressure in back. 3. You could try toe-in in the rear and toe-out or no toe up front. | | | 07-22-2005, 01:44 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Northern New Jersey Posts: 395 | This is me at Giants stadium participating in The M Club's Autocross event. This was before I got new control arms/bushings/strut brace/metal ball joints. They were worn out beyond belief at this point. I got 3rd place in my class then... I plan to race next weekend at the same event. | | | 08-19-2005, 07:12 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: San Jose, CA, USA Posts: 253 | Right - same wheelbase on the ti, but a much better polar moment of inertia without a trunk and a shorter engine. I could occaisonally win DSP locally at SCCA events, particularly when the local national champion didn't make the event. These days, though, the 32x's are just toooo fast. __________________ Andy Chittum - Mad Man Motorsports | | | 08-19-2005, 04:30 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT Maurolin, you probably just have too much power. Real racing doesn't require style points. <yanking ya all and havin fun..> Dave __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
