Obviously, this is a deal of the lifetime and therefore the opportunity of one as well. I got the DME with the engine, so that helps me out a bit. My plan is to swap an M54B30 rotating assembly into it with some headers for a simple 3.0 swap. My question first and foremost however is if the lifters & springs from an M52tub25 head will work with M54B30 cams. I'm finding conflicting information on the forums. I know the M52tub25 head is literally an M54b25 head, but the part numbers regarding the lifters & springs are odd. RealOEM says it's a good match, however elsewhere says it isn't. If anyone can help me out that'd be great! Engine is coming home the 11th of this month as well as the tranny. Should also mention Napa has Evercraft engine stands for $60 right now so if you're in the market for one check it out! Thanks guys! | | | 05-24-2019, 02:43 AM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2014 Location: New Hampshire Posts: 4 | Update The engine and transmission are home! I'm gonna begin to crack into this over the next few weeks and I'll be sure to post more updates when I can. I didn't plan on waiting such a long time to post but there was a delay in getting them home. That's my father in the picture for reference, not me. He built a V8 when he was younger and has some pretty good technical skills so he will be key! | | | 08-20-2019, 02:09 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2014 Location: New Hampshire Posts: 4 | It's been 3 months since I updated this thread so I thought I should. Life got really busy and I had to build a floor for my shed to build in which took some time. I was able to get most of the supporting systems off and popped the valve cover just to check the top end out since I noticed rust forming on top of the valves I should hopefully have some more progress pics in the next few weeks, just gotta find time to tinker! | | | 08-20-2019, 08:15 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Mar 2019 Location: Middle TN Posts: 45 | Awesome. I’m swapping my m52tub28-swapped-318ti from auto to manual as we speak. Keep up the good work! | | | 10-09-2019, 04:23 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2014 Location: New Hampshire Posts: 4 | Update Thank you for the encouragement! Currently at about the same spot with the engine as the last update, but hoping to get a 318ti bought this weekend! Guy has a clean one near me with a blown M42 for $750 and I'm thinking I can talk him down to $500! Either way hoping to get more done before the snow sets in. It looks like this swap won't occur till spring let alone next summer because of timing and life getting in the way. I also noticed this site won't be around come the new-year so this thread will likely get moved over to bimmerfest! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
