Ok so about 6-8 months ago, I was leaving a baseball game, was a little tipsy, and decided that it would be a good idea to drift to show off to some girl I was talking to. Here's the basic rundown of the accident.. Needless to say, I hit that curb (Pink X) with the rear passenger wheel. Bent the rim, blew out the tire, and ****ed up the alignment (so I thought). Steering wheel is perma-cocked at 1:00, yet drives straight. When I took it to Sears for an alignment, they gave it to me free, thinking I bought my tires there or something. Basically everything was ok, except my toe in, which was something like 1.00* in on the driver, 1.50* in on the passenger, and they didn't/couldn't fix it. My camber, ect was off by like 0.01* and they told me to take it to a frame shop to fix that. Now I'm not sure if I might have bent the frame on the car, permenantly ****ing up my alignment. Could it possibly be a cracked spring (or fudged up shock/strut)? Or does the toe-in just need to be fixed with a normal alignment (aka, Sears is retarded). __________________ http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ata/bmwsig.jpg '95 Hellrot Red 318ti • 18x8" E46 M3 Chromes • Eagle F1 GS-D3 (225/35/18) • Cosmo Racing CAI • Sony CDX-M800 Headunit • MTX Thunder 8000 Subwoofer • Audiobahn A8000T Amp • MTX Sledgehammer 12" Ported Box | | | 07-27-2006, 09:52 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Tampa, FL Posts: 108 | Oh, might I add, the wheelgap is about .75"-1.00" less on impact rim, as opposed to the drivers side rear. (Why I think maybe bent frame or cracked suspension).. __________________ http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ata/bmwsig.jpg '95 Hellrot Red 318ti • 18x8" E46 M3 Chromes • Eagle F1 GS-D3 (225/35/18) • Cosmo Racing CAI • Sony CDX-M800 Headunit • MTX Thunder 8000 Subwoofer • Audiobahn A8000T Amp • MTX Sledgehammer 12" Ported Box | | | 07-27-2006, 11:54 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Watford, herts, England Posts: 805 | how badly is the wheel bent? i would start by getting a new rim, and check all the parts in that corner are sound. __________________ '96 318ti in Montreal Blue :m-tec sideskirts,m-bootspoiler,clear corners & repeaters .m-tech side mouldings, Magnex Exhaust System, leather armrest, F-15 gear Knob, 18" Evo 2's. I had to replace the trailing arm to fix it. I actually took it to the dealer to have them check it out, they said the axle had gotten bent, the trailing arm, and possibly the carrier. It doesnt seem like you have as much damage, but your trailing arm or whole hub assembly may be bent and causing your toe in. It cost me $300 for a trailing arm...if you find out you only need a hub assembly, your local auto parts store sells them for $90. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-27-2006, 04:34 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | The trailing arms are like putty.. You can practically breath on them and they will bend... And I'm sorry.. But I have to laugh at the situation.. Sucks that you messed up your car.. but I'm sure that girl was really impressed.. hehehe | | | 07-27-2006, 04:45 PM | #6 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Yeah... good point mohaughn!! How exactly did you do it? left foot brake while turning and applying power with the right foot? seems to me that would work, get the weight transferred to the front wheels, then add enough power to break the rear tires loose. Seems it would be hard on the tires in any case. | | | 07-27-2006, 06:10 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Tampa, FL Posts: 108 | I'm out of town right now, so as soon as I get back I'll take some pics of underneath. And to whoever suggested replacing the rim, as I said, it was like 6-8 months ago. You think I'm driving around on a bent rim and blown out tire?
