I have a 1998 Ti with the stock (10 speaker) audio system, modified with a 1/8" RCA input. Wow, is it terrible. I replaced both 5.25" in the front with decent aftermarket units, and went up to 6.5" in the rear. And I'm shocked at how easily the bass distorts. My car is a Cali Top and at highway speeds the stock stereo is pointless. All I use it for is to connect to my phone, which is what I play everything through. I've read a lot of suggestions on replacing the head unit, but my question is: Which is the best sub $150 solution here. 1. New Head Unit with existing speakers 2. Powered sub-woofer with line-level inputs. Thanks in advance, Neel | | | 03-05-2018, 10:23 PM | #2 | Member Join Date: Nov 2017 Location: Bellaire, TX Posts: 32 | Mount sub box in floor where tools go I used a JL Audio 10" | | | 03-05-2018, 11:40 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Oct 2015 Location: Slidell, Louisiana USA Posts: 89 | IMO, just changing the head unit to a decent aftermarket will do wonders. I wouldn't bother running a sub off the factory deck. I have a good Pioneer deck running highs through the factory amp (I have the same system as you), and RCAs to a cheap 100w amp and a cheap 8 in a custom box. It sounds 10x better than the factory. Fiberglass enclosure? It fits nicely under the carpet. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
