Either I-4 or I-6 as someone suggested taking a I-6 harness and just remove the 2 extra plugs. I think the kit looks great and I needed it since I have a feeling my current coil is on its way out. I will take some pictures of the install when it happens | | | 12-23-2012, 08:12 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | | | | 12-23-2012, 04:46 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: Miami, FL Posts: 874 | Sweet where you get them __________________ Mods: 325is zender spoiler, 3" carbon fiber antenna, 5% tints rear windows, black out grills, Fogged air intake, Ds1 wheels, Rokkor coilovers, bilstein rear shocks, blacked out tails and home made angel eyes | | | 12-23-2012, 04:47 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Sweet! Coil packs all in one? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-23-2012, 06:16 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Coil on plug __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 12-23-2012, 06:43 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one Coil on plug | Ah. I have never seen it on an M42/44. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 12-24-2012, 04:36 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | rob_e30 has been selling them for the last couple of years. he has several posts on here about them. The main advantage is being able to replace individual coils, not having to deal with a coil "pack," and no spark plug wires. Never seen anybody suggest it is a HP gain, but new coils can't really hurt performance either.. | | | 12-24-2012, 05:15 AM | #10 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | It's a more direct and reliable ignition source. No plug wires = no resistance, and as mentioned you gain the ability to replace coils individually. More than anything though, it's just badass Johnboy, I'm surprised you haven't made your own COP kit yet | | | 12-24-2012, 07:17 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | | | | 12-24-2012, 09:16 PM | #12 | Member Join Date: Apr 2011 Location: S. Florida Posts: 90 | Cop Check out hqautosport.com. I have one of their cop kits on my 91 318is and 97 Ti. I won't claim any seat of the pants dyno hp improvements but feel the idle smoothed out a bit. Last edited by Noneone2; 12-24-2012 at 09:18 PM. The plug on the back of my coil pack comes loose, so I have to put a big huge zip tie around the coil pack and the plug to keep it from coming loose. I'm still chasing down a "sticky" steering issue, so not planning on doing one of these until my coil pack completely quits. | | | 12-28-2012, 05:33 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 It's a more direct and reliable ignition source. I didn't know robe30 or whoever had the M44 kit going. What's the damage on that piece? __________________ -'98 318ti -'87 VW Scirocco, 2.0 Motronic swap -'95 VW Cabrio | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
