Guys, im sooooo considering maybe purchasing this. Im just not sure. I would have to drive to san jose hoping im not getting ripped off and everything is legit with no engine problems. For only $3k with EVERYTHING is cheap. I have money to buy it, and i can sell my DASC for any additional money for things i might need to buy. To clear things up, is our tranny different than the M3 tranny? I heard from someone that ALL e36 tranny's are the same? Im just concerned off the things i might need to buy extra on top of what this guy is already selling? Like exhaust, differential, transmission. Im trying to avoid paying another grand on top of that. What you guys think? Go for it or stay with my setup? http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=872584 | | | 12-07-2007, 10:55 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Holy F*ck that sounds expensive s52 swap OBD2 to OBD2 m3 components needed -engine ~5000 -cluster ~250 -radiator ~150 -80c thermostat -ecu, and complete (matching to engine, and transmission )wiring harness ~250 or included -EWS(security system) to be aligned by dealership ~100 -Custom Intake ~100+ -Complete m3 exhaust up to muffler, which does not fit ~300 -e46 330 OEM or aftermarket muffler, or custom muffler that fits (magnaflow) ~150+ optional but recommended -transmission ~450 -m3 clutch and flywheel ~100 or included -mcoupe or mroadster LSD differential ~500 -matching driveshaft to differential ~150 -front m3 brakes, preferably with complete front brakes ~700 -17" + wheels to clear m3 brakes, if you went this route. Other than that, I would stay with your set up. | | | 12-07-2007, 08:43 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | hhhmm. 3k sounds cheap. To truly understand what you are getting into you should purchase J!m's swap manual. e36 transmission are not all the same. There is a ZF and Getrag, the m3 and 328 run the ZF. Maybe the M shop can do it for you if you bring them a motor? __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 12-07-2007, 09:42 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | The M Shop would charge $2k just for doing the swap. I dont think im going to do it. Ill wait till the near future. Maybe do something crazier with this car. | | | 12-08-2007, 03:56 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Toledo, OHIO Posts: 332 | you only need the instrument cluster for the RPM's. 4cyl. to the 6 screws up the rpm reading. If you can deal with that for awile then no big deal. 100 some odd $$'s saved. __________________ 99 black ti sport | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
