I was about 3 miles away from my house when I had to take a detour down a residential street to miss some major traffic. The street I went down passed the High School of the town that I live in. It was just after school got out, so there were a lot of "teeny boppers" just lounging outside the school. For some odd reason, they still had the "Caution 15 MPH" speed limit signs out, down the whole street. This was a pain, I was moving slower. But, here is the cool part. I probably own 1 of maybe 3 BMW's in Coolidge. The only ti of course. Everyone was giving me the "ooooo's" & "aaahhhh's" over my car. And someone started to clap. That clap turned into more claps. When to my surprise, there were cheers and chants of, "Nice car!" and "Check out that ride." I was amazed. Never has my ti been given such attention. I did what any person in my shoes would do. I stuck my hand out the window and waved, said thank you, and then..............peeled out to show my speed! The crowd went crazy! Just thought that I'd share this awesome experience that happened to my ti. I hope this has happened or will happen to everyone else. It's an awesome feeling. | | | 05-16-2006, 07:50 PM | #2 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | LOL __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 05-16-2006, 08:06 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Potomac, Maryland Posts: 230 | soo effin sick wit it | | | 05-16-2006, 08:07 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Indianapolis, IN Posts: 228 | Some kids playing in the street one day near our home shouted, "Nice car!" when my wife and I drove by in our Z3 with the top down. It's amazing how good that sounds, even coming from 9 year olds. | | | 05-16-2006, 08:17 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | LOL | | | 05-16-2006, 08:43 PM | #6 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | The ti can peel out? __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-16-2006, 09:02 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Tacompton, WA Posts: 309 | i feel the same way when hott girls are next to you looking at the car and then you! thats always nice too __________________ 95 318ti Alpine white, E46 m3 front bumper, Clear Corners, Cosmo CAI, k&n filter, Flowmaster catback, front strut bars, sony 12" sub Kenwood 800watt amp & Aiwa Deck, stickers Future: Angel Eyes, Drop, Rims, and rear bumper 318ti.org sticker (added 100HP) | | | 05-16-2006, 09:29 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | Quote: Originally Posted by Tyler The ti can peel out? | OK, bad choice of words. Ive peeled out from 3.8-4krpms and it launches. It peels out about a good 3 spins maybe and i launch right out quick. Ive beat my friend v6 eclipse (2000) in launching. We raced 1/4 mile and i barely won by front bumper. Yep it launches pretty good. | | | 05-16-2006, 11:37 PM | #10 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996Bmw318TI Yes TI's peel out. It feels good. And yes, I can peel out in my Ti. Now, if you are already rolling and floor it, i dont see many folks burning rubber. But from a stand still, ive lost plenty of rubber. __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights. This "wheel spinning" issue is the only thing I don't like about the car so far... my Honda would spin new-ish tires fairly easily. I've yet to get a good bark from the ti. To get back on topic... Yesterday as I was leaving church, a couple of teen-age boys said "nice car" as I got in. As I left the parking lot, one of the guys came up beside me and acted like he wanted to race. So, I ignored him for a second, then floored it and left him in the dust. Oh yeah... he was on foot. LOL __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH!
