I have a “new” M44 and, I assume all original suspension. I love superior handling, but I do not need much beyond its original capabilities. Im not tracking, likely occasional canyon driving mixed with light commutes. Ive reviewed the Suspension FAQs, but alot of it is older data, and assume pricing/availability has changed. Goal is around 600-700 for shocks/struts, possibly springs. Bimmerworld suggested KW coilovers, about $1100. More than I want to spend as the motor rebuild alone cost 6000. (I will never recover my investment...) It has Style 39s with 17s 225ft/245rr but still has about 2” gap surprisingly My order so far and pls comment as you see fit 1. Bilstein B12 kit. Has springs. Mod lowering. Struts equivalents to b6?? I cant tell $600. I cant find anyone running these. Look like possible bang for buck 2. Koni Str T about 300 but needs another 200-250 for springs as Im sure mine are likely kaput 3. Bilstein b4 is that closest to OEM?? Not sure. Would need springs and that would be more than the B12 kit Im sure I will need to buy new top plates etc once I get in there as well. Any help appreciated | | | 07-19-2019, 07:30 PM | #2 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2013 Location: Santa Cruz, CA Posts: 17 | I purchased a completely assembled kit from the bimmerbum.com and couldn’t be happier. It’s the Koni StrT set up with H&R springs. Front struts came completely assembled so installing was ‘easy’ and everything was new. Drop them a line and they should take very good care of you. Have not come across that vendor. Ive had luck with kyb and koni in fast so def not opposed to using them. Seems like the koni STRs are called “orange” models Dennis | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
