Chip, exhaust and intake mods are more responsive and noticeable. This is because of OBDI. BMW seem to have "wringed-out" all they can for power out of the M44 engines, but I can feel the difference in the higher torque. Unfortunately, we (Stateside) don't get the cool 4 cylinders from Europe like he 2.0L turbodiesel, not even te torquey 1.6L. __________________ It's always a great day to be underwater and play with the fish.....preserve our oceans and reefs" Fariz 1997 318ti, Hellrot (Bright Red), Dinan Stage 2 Chip 16x7 OEM sport Wheels/X-Brace/Custom Strut Brace/Cold Air Intake/M-Tec Steering Wheel/Koni Adjustable FrontShocks/ Bilstein Sport Rear Shocks /H&R Sport Springs/Custom fabricated strut tower brace/Rear Strut brace, Stromung Exhaust Future Mods: E46 17" wheels or Kosei K-1 17x8.5s | | | 09-22-2005, 03:37 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Iowa Posts: 54 | the M44 has some updated parts in the timing chain system that will last longer. | | | 09-22-2005, 03:44 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | M42 has forged crankshaft and pistons I believe. | | | 09-22-2005, 12:24 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | i got the M43. bit of both perhaps __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: • Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust • Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators • M3 17" Wheels • De-Baffled Air Box • AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob • DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings • Chrome Interior bits •IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs • Kenwood Power Series Audio • Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers • Sports Seats | | | 10-12-2005, 10:09 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: England Posts: 177 | My engine is an m44 but is a 1,796 cc. how is this possible? uk spec maybe? | | | 10-12-2005, 10:12 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: North Saint Paul, MN Posts: 606 | Quote: Originally Posted by stormos i got the M43. bit of both perhaps | __________________ '96 Alaska Blue ti w/ Supersprint cat-back exhaust...Dinan CAI & Chip...Eibach Pro-Kit Springs...Bilstein Sport shocks...BavAuto camber kit...Brembo d/s rotors...UUC SSK...Centerforce Dual Friction clutch...TMS 9lb flywheel...18 inch OZ Rims...Carbon-Fiber dash/gauge bezel...Momo Shift Knob...Indiglo gauges...Schroth Harness...ZKW's/ProLumen 6k HID...Predator Chromiums http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15...urowerksig.jpg | | | 10-12-2005, 10:14 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: England Posts: 177 | aggrrhh this is really doing my head in about which engine i have! http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/fra...ec-filters.htm on here it says that the m42 is a 1.9 16v Manufacturer : Powertec Filters Category : Powertec Induction Kits Sub-category : Powertec - BMW Application : E36 318Ti (M42) 1.9 16v 97- | | | 10-12-2005, 10:53 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Quote: Originally Posted by Matt-UK aggrrhh this is really doing my head in about which engine i have! http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/fra...ec-filters.htm on here it says that the m42 is a 1.9 16v Manufacturer : Powertec Filters Category : Powertec Induction Kits Sub-category : Powertec - BMW Application : E36 318Ti (M42) 1.9 16v 97- | Simple.
