The carbon was CAKED on. I had to let the alcohol soak in multiple times. I ran out of scotch brite pads so I will be finishing up Saturday. Before: After an Hour: I'm trying to think of an easy way how to get the rest of the carbon out of the reliefs. Here is how I had to leave off yesterday: It was way too cold and rainy to try and paint anything on my rear subframe too=/ In excellent news, the wheels got their first coat of powder yesterday. They would be done, but Shaun ran out of clear. Not a problem. They should be all done next week. __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-11-2013, 01:43 PM | #152 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Wow, those wheels are going to be spectacular! __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-11-2013, 01:56 PM | #153 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one Wow, those wheels are going to be spectacular! | It will definitely be hard to find a replacement when the time comes=) With them being a very flat monoblock style face, and adding large lips, they will be almost perfect to my tastes. __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-11-2013, 04:13 PM | #154 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | Quote: Originally Posted by Earl Thank you sir. Shaun's car ROOL: thats what wet dreams are made of lol. | Our cars are going to be very similar yet different due to both running Breytons at the same fitment. He is a great guy too. His powdercoating is excellent. Not a problem bud. I understand life. I'll text you later. __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-12-2013, 11:11 AM | #156 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-15-2013, 11:19 AM | #157 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | I finally got my rear subframe parts all painted up=) I didn't take any final pictures like I thought though=/ I also realised that one of the wheel bearings is really bad and needs to be changed. I ended up getting all of the carbon off of the pistons, but yet again I didn't take any pictures. Here are the only pictures that I took: Before clearcoat: Sprayed the brake shields and hubs: Painted the diff black: Wednesday I will take pictures of them all finished. I will be pressing in the new bushings too hopefully. It is supposed to be warm for once, so I should be able to get some primer and paint on the block finally. __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-18-2013, 11:23 AM | #158 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | I got a little bit done yesterday. I started by taping off the block. I ended up running out of tape so I could only one side=/ I then laid down some primer: I then had to wait for that to dry, so I started working on the bay again. I busted out a propane torch, wire brush, and pallet knife. Passenger side: Driver side: I ended up having to quit that for the day because my brush bit the dust: By this time the primer was dry, so I laid down the paint: It was supposed to have more of a champagne tint to it, but it definitely looks good=) It looks like liquid mercury. Hopefully Saturday I will get the other side painted, as well as removing the crank bolt to pull the timing cover. I also snapped a few crappy pictures of my rearend parts finished up: And a shot of the pistons clean: More to come Saturday=) __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-18-2013, 11:38 AM | #159 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | I just realized how nice it would be to have a minty clean engine. Well done. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-18-2013, 11:47 AM | #160 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one I just realized how nice it would be to have a minty clean engine. Well done. | Thank you. It will be really nice. The two colors I'll be using are this and mainly wrinkle black. I'm shaving all of the lines off of the valve cover, as well as the top of the intake manifold. Those will both be wrinkle black. My engine brackets will be the color of the block, but the accessories will be wrinkle black. I also think I'll be painting the timing covers the same color as the block. It should all turn out pretty nice. __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | 04-22-2013, 11:49 AM | #161 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | I got a little done on Saturday, but it doesn't look like much. I started off by painting the other side of the block. Both sides turned out really well. The color came out brighter and more silver than what I wanted, but it will work well with the rest of the colors. Most of the rest of the day was spent with a propane torch and wire brush. I still have a lot of seam sealer to get out of little nooks and crannys. I'm really hoping I can get it out soon so that I can weld the seams up, grind them flat, and then smooth out the whole bay. I really want to be done with that so that I can just fit the wheels, and then send the car off for paint. I'll hopefully be ordering a ton of parts this week so I can slowly cross things off of my list. I also need to replace a wheel bearing in the rear so that I can put the subframe back in. Last thing I got done was a little cleaning on the steering rack. I ran out of brake cleaner=( I'm hoping some more exciting updates will come sooner than later. __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii Last edited by Earl; 04-22-2013 at 12:01 PM. | | | 04-22-2013, 12:15 PM | #162 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Progress. It will a nice ride with new ones tho. I need to do mine too. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-25-2013, 01:54 PM | #165 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2012 Location: West Bend, Wisconsin Posts: 1,055 | It's not an issue. They just need to be pressed in since they're made to be a tight fit=) __________________ 95 318ti & 96 318ti Quote: Originally Posted by eurohb Im Jelly.. enough said. | Follow me on instagram: earlmeyeriii | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
