Has anybody installed the Technique Tune on a naturally aspirated M44? (I have a Z3.) http://www.techniquetuning.com/e36m44sw.html What is it exactly? Curious to know how it worked and what your impression of it was. | | | 11-05-2015, 01:56 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by vintage42 | The best tune out there right now is Barrie at BMWCONNECT on the board. Barrie has tuned everything from stock motors (better then the Dinan tune) all the way to nasty turbo motors. You can't go wrong with his tunes. His tune is not a 1 size fits all, he gets your details of what you are looking for then applies the appropriate code for your setup. For instance, Burger Motor Sport makes a plug and play tune kit for the current 320i that gives it the performance of a 328i (raises hp from 180 to 240). Of course the 320i is a de-tuned 328i and has a turbo to raise the boost on, but even 20 hp more for the M44 would be worth the cost of the Technique Tune kit. http://burgertuning.com/N20_BMW_performance_Tuner.html http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=11 | | | 11-06-2015, 05:36 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Burger tune for a turbo car re-tune that makes that much HP/torque is changing the waste gate psi to supply the motor with more boost which causes more HP/torque and is turbo related only, trust me I know turbo's since I "might", see the word "might" have had the nastiest I-4 turbo build on the board. Stock no turbo boost was 200+ HP on the Metric motor and I could add anywhere from stock closed waste gate (No boost) to right under 500hp with boost around 25psi. I could make any HP/Torque from 200-500 by waste gate changes with a Gizmo "Scramble" and a squirt of meth, with Barrie's tune. I had a Technique tune from Nick and a Mark D tune and none came close to Barrie's at BMWCONNECT. Burger does not show a tune for the M44 and your Bimmerfest link is a dead link so I could not view it. Nick G's tune, Technique, shows less then 3HP gain and less then 4ftlb of torque which is a super conservative tune and you won't even feel it on the "seat dyno". With a stock motor stock tune you will gain maybe 10+ HP/TQ and more if you dial the cam overlap with a good tune. Ask the members on the board about Barrie's tunes and how they compare to other coders tunes. You will find many people that will back up his work plus he will not charge you some ridiculous price...
