I first read about using it in a BMW service bulletin about chattering wipers. I think of it like using a clay bar on your paint - it gets it cleaner than a wash sponge can. The end results is very smooth glass. And you have to use the Bon Ami "Cleaning Powder". The label also says "Original 1886 Formula". It contains just Tallow Soap and Feldspar. The correct stuff is hard to find and the ONLY place near me I could find it was at a little independant hardware store. Check Ace Hardware though. The wrong stuff is called "Powder Cleanser" and is more abrasive (apparently) and also does not say "Original 1886 Formula". This is the stuff that's readily available at most stores. This stuff contains Limestone, Feldspar, Cleaning Agents, Soda Ash and Baking Soda. Also, don't use an abrasive pad like Scothbrite. I just use a little microfiber polishing pad or even a new disposable shop towel or paper towel. Let the powder do the work. It also works wonders on stainless steel sinks and many other cleaning jobs. I use it on my tile shower and tub and it leaves it like brand new - it polishes all the hard water stains away. Its basically an ultra-fine polishing powder. The can says for use on glass, but there's a warning on the back about not using it on windshields. I think that's a legal thing though as I've used it on dozens of windshield and there's no hint of a scratch anywhere. Wouldn't hurt to test it in a lower corner of the windshield. http://www.unofficialbmw.com/all/car...indshield.html http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e30/ext...ll_bonami.html http://www.bonami.com/index.php/prod...wder_cleanser/ | Thanks much for the useful information. I'm going to try to find some. | | | 04-11-2012, 09:04 PM | #2207 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | got my car egged and sunroof tilt filled with trash and my friend's car a nice big kicked in dent on the side at my school | | | 04-11-2012, 09:43 PM | #2208 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by geetarspaz got my car egged and sunroof tilt filled with trash and my friend's car a nice big kicked in dent on the side at my school | That sucks man. Remember what I said about living in a small town, driving a bright red car and doing childish and inconsiderate things though. Lucky it was your friend's car that got dented. Lucky your cars didn't get keyed or have the tires slashed | | | 04-11-2012, 09:44 PM | #2209 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | yeah, thanks jess. i know what you mean now. im everywhere in my small town all the time, and im the only tiny red bmw the jumps around everywhere, and everyone knows my car which is just as nice and bad sometimes. | | | 04-11-2012, 10:52 PM | #2210 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: MD/PA/DC Posts: 1,629 | I'm debating on giving mine to the wife. I just bought her a perfect replacement Protege 5 after she ran my old Protege 5 into an embankment. That was the only car I ever bought new and I I put 250K on it, and she killed it in 34K.... __________________ No more ti. | | | 04-11-2012, 11:01 PM | #2211 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | Quote: Originally Posted by geetarspaz got my car egged and sunroof tilt filled with trash and my friend's car a nice big kicked in dent on the side at my school | damn that blows, if you've got a problem with somebody it should be taken up with them not their car. sorry to hear about for car man __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 04-11-2012, 11:02 PM | #2212 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | thanks man that's why i need a second beat up car to take everywhere | | | 04-12-2012, 12:57 PM | #2213 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | I'd be so pissed.
