My last brake service included the pads, rotors, Super Blue flush, and new ate rubber guides. What I have right now feels much better than when I did all that. So it comes down to rebuilt calipers and the solid bushings. I probably should have tried each thing separately but I just wanted to get it done. Pedal feels solid now, I have to imagine that is the solid bushings not letting the caliper deflect. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 02-24-2013, 08:47 PM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by spidertri You are right that it would feel better with new rotors and pads but the ones in there were replaced not too long ago. I generally wear my pads down to almost the backing plate and they wear evenly. There are so many variables to consider. If it makes you feel good, then money well spent. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-25-2013, 05:58 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Jax, FL Posts: 541 | What grease do you use when doing an annual/when necessary refresh on those solid brass guides? | | | 02-25-2013, 06:43 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Shellback What grease do you use when doing an annual/when necessary refresh on those solid brass guides? | You sure you want to grease them up? Going to attract dirt. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 02-25-2013, 06:57 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Jax, FL Posts: 541 | Quote: Originally Posted by BimmerBum ...brass caliper bushings from the old calipers to the new ones they were very dry. ....I greased them very well when I installed them ....GREASE YOUR BRASS CALIPER BUSHINGS YEARLY AND EVERY TIME YOU SWAP PADS | I'm confused... | | | 02-25-2013, 08:44 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | You definitely need to grease them. Just needs to be something heat resistant and waterproof so that it doesn't wash off easily in rain. I got some permatex extreme brake lubricant (it's purple) from Autozone. Seems to be working well so far. I've also heard good things about sylglide. I plan on checking and greasing them monthly. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
