I found out mine shortly after purchase cause my friends VRsex did the same thing, as does my mom's passat. and that little string to open the gas cap is on every vechile with a locking gas door, for obvious reasons. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 05-20-2008, 04:53 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | yea, thankfully when the power locks failed on my ti.. they failed in the open position or I would be tugging on that string everytime I needed to fill up my car. Is that so when you can't unlock your gas you go to the dealer and they charge you $150 to pull the string? __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 05-20-2008, 05:36 PM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | yeah it was wasnt it __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 05-20-2008, 11:44 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | i tried the dead lock trick and my gas cap still opened. When I lock the car, the pin starts to come out, but stops at the edge of the body work (doesn't come out of the hole at all). So, is it possible the pin is bent or does the actuator thing need to be replaced like Mallard mentioned? And does someone have instructions for that or is it in the Chiltons manual (making do with it until I get a Bentley manual)?
