FWIW, one of the systems I maintained on the Tomcat was called the APG-71 Radar Cooling System. It had a large steel braided line that dielectric fluid flowed through which was secured with an Adel clamp. We also used them to secure wiring. The Air Force didn't have F-14's or anything with a tail hook for that matter. C'mon man, haven't you seen Top Gun? | How to pick which branch of the service you will join: 1. Will I have to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. 2. Do I have to swim further than I can hold my breath. 3. Will they make me sleep with 400 guys in a tin can with no way out for 6 months. 4. Do they have cable... (I went Air Force) Lol Dave __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | 09-29-2012, 06:03 PM | #312 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2011 Location: SoFla Posts: 482 | Well no matter what branch you served for you guys are great Americans in my book....anyways, back on topic, the mechanic dropped the gas tank today to clean it out. (Despite the swimming criteria... ) At the end of the day go guard and you'll go combat. They cant maintain their ops in the middle east without guardsmen. If that's your goal, ok. But one of the biggest issues is that green guardsmen just don't have the intense life events that regulars get. That translates in delay of behavior in combat, its very hard to teach the live (not life) skills once your brain is past the 17 to 24 age bracket that makes those skills automatic. If the air force is your thing, go Civil Air Patrol if your young enough. Many of the opportunities, the rank transfers to Guard or Active duty.. And you gain rank MUCH faster.
