Installed the suspension and new rims last night. Ill be the first to say.....holy 4x4 batman. Stock suspension sucks sooooooooo bad. I thought the extra few pounds added to the front of the car would lower the ride height a little bit, but noooo, its still high as hell. O2 sensor and new slave should be on its way today to finish of the last of everything. Tonight i think im going to run the fuel and vacuum lines and start buttoning up the project. Should be up and running this week, on the road next week after i buy new brakes. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 10-26-2007, 02:00 AM | #34 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 11-01-2007, 04:10 PM | #35 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Tuesday: Ran the new fuel and vacuum lines. Hooked up most of the cooling system. Bought the oil and filter as well as hooked up a few other parts and tidbits. Also purchased an authentic AC Schnitzer strut bar for 65$. The bar is mint condition, no dirt, oil, scratches or dents. The PO bought it for a coupe, but it was made for a sedan, so his hood wouldnt close. Another great deal to add to my grand total. Will have more pics up tonight. Total price so far: $320 - Engine $72 - 12 coil packs, 2 headers,8 plugs, 2 o2 sensors $30 - Bmw OEM connector $75 - Maf and CPS $20 - Paint, primer, sand paper for valve cover $30 - New composite waterpump and thermostat housing with gaskets $32 - Hydraulic brake lines and strut perch $300 - New set of rims $50 - New Slave and o2 Sensor $35 - [1] Muffler $70 - New fuel/vaccum lines, Oil, oil filter $65 - Authentic AC Schnitzer Strut Bar Grand total = $1,099 __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 11-02-2007, 05:36 PM | #36 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Tried to install the new front, hydraulic, flexible lines last night and ended up stripping the hard line nut even with a flared nut wrench. Called Yark Bmw, local dealer, and ordered new lines as well as a few other small items and it should be here on wednesday. I budgeted about 12k-13k all together, with the cars purchase price, before i thought it would be completely dont the way i like. Id say my budget is now about 9-10k before im done and thats including a turbo kit im putting together this winter. Plus there is the money i made back for some of my m44 crap, so its really not that bad. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 11-06-2007, 05:21 PM | #39 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | but how did you get all the parts so cheap. i have an m50 engine sitting in my garage and need most of the exact same parts and would like to get them for the same price. __________________ e46 325 brake upgrade, Dinan engine chip, UUC SS brake lines, UCC rotors, m68 17in wheels, Conti extreme contacts, Billstein sport shocks, H&R springs, M3 shock mounts, B&B triflow exhaust, K&N cone filter, Magnecor 8.5 wires, Meyle control arms with caster , Hawk ceramic pads, Understeer M3 SSK, UUC SS clutch line, 320 trans mounts. | | | 11-06-2007, 05:29 PM | #40 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | She's coming along very nicely! You guys are awesome with the wrench. I've never changed the oil on any car, ever. | | | 11-06-2007, 07:57 PM | #41 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | yeah man. you've been doing all of this for really cheap. i'd thought it would cost like over 5k to do such a swap. lucky. whats ur secret for getting everything pretty cheap. | | | 11-07-2007, 01:40 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | The only reason it would be so expensive is if you didnt wait for deals to come around and bought most things new. Also, for 5k, you could easily do an s50/2 swap instead of an m50/2. Most parts ive found on bimmerforums.com, ebay, craigslist, and other various sources. You just need to know when to pass on certain things instead of jumping on them because they seem cheap. Know the true value of what youre looking for and parts will come cheaply. M50s are ALWAYS available cheaply on bimmerforums. Everyone over there does s50/2, LSx, and other kinds of swaps and m50s are always thrown to the side. Ive also noticed no drop in ride height with the new engine, so the suspension does not need to be changed at the same time as the engine. Just keep looking, if you need help finding parts, hit me up on aim or yahoo. The passenger side on the other hand, needs to be ordered from germany, there are no lines over here in the states. Also did some modding to the cooling system on the m50 to bypass the cooling line that goes through the throttle body. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
