Thanks for letting me know. I think it is about time for everyone to get an update on the progress. It has been slow due to the low volume. The first sample gear was well made, but the inside was just a little too small. This caused issues with the rubber spacer that goes between the gears. The company should be getting me a 2nd sample gear soon and hopefully we can start production. I did not expect this to take so long, sorry for the lack of updates! __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect! The company working on this went out of business. Never notified me about the shut down and took my deposit. I just wanted to update everyone that the project is dead for now. I may revisit this later but as for now, no gears in the foreseeable future. I did buy a California top motor for myself during this process. It is used but worked. Gears seem to be in good shape yet. If you are interested, make me a fair offer!! I have zero use for it. Shipping is $5 for the USA. No switch included, just wires. Thanks again for the support guys, especially Rich (BlackBMW) for sending me a California top motor to test gears with. (Don't worry, I sent his back!) He is the real OG in this for being pretty cool about me holding on to that motor for as long as I did. __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect! In case anyone following did not see BRADESTAR's post about available gears on eBay: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...california+top I bought two of these machined brass gears from the UK and they arrived in a week or two. I have not yet tried installing as both of our tops are still working but if anyone has installed one of these yet, please post your results. __________________ 98 318ti MSport M52, 88 M3, 97 M3/4 Last edited by Trusted-1; 02-12-2017 at 05:56 PM. | | | 02-12-2017, 05:45 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Bethlehem, PA Posts: 1,106 | Very awesome! Glad to see someone was able to get these made! I did not lose much, just a deposit. I am just glad to see it all worked out in the end! As mentioned. I have a motor with gears in perfect shape. Open to offers! __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect! | Thanks Trusted. I meant to PM you about this hotmilk. Didn't want to step on toes in the case you found some success making these in the lower 48. | | | 02-13-2017, 01:12 AM | #45 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Bethlehem, PA Posts: 1,106 | Actually, I just got word that the project is not dead. I guess the company I was working with was using a different company for this project. I just got all the contact details and will get an update Tuesday. I will update you all once I know the new details. Mine will be plastic with the original rubber still used in the middle of both gears. I think we got some distance between us and wont step on toes. I also do not have many coming in, just 1 batch that I need to unload over time. __________________ Check out our new website! https://soltechsolutionsllc.com/ Green Your Decor with the Aspect!
