I think that red coupe you posted before had the switch next to the shifter. In a Ti you'd have to create a new place (next to the ASCT for example). __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-28-2008, 08:39 PM | #62 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | yes yes you are correct. just like back window switches for a 4 door that control the poppers instead of windows! __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-28-2008, 09:03 PM | #63 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-28-2008, 09:03 PM | #64 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | some of those may not hhave helped but i figured i would post them all __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-28-2008, 09:10 PM | #65 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | AWESOME pics! So the drive shaft is felexible! But where does the motor mount? You know it just occurred to me that the mount on the window itself can be rotated to horizontal (likely). Then could one use the exact same mounting position as the coupe (more horizontal). The rear soft trim cover would probably cover no problem. I also wonder what the seatbelt anchor mounts look like? Could the latch use those mounts? Edit- looks like the seat against the window glass has a square hole? The glass likely has a round hole though. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 02-29-2008, 02:14 AM | #66 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by thesk8nmidget | dude! This mod looks wicked. I actually didn't even know my window could pop open until I got my tint done (2 years after getting my car). I hope someone gives this a go and gets it to work for less then 400$. I might just have to try it myself! EDIT: if my parts list is correct, somewhere i have a coupe manual latch that i bought to compare to the ti so i could see if this would be feasible. at some point i'll dig it out and take pics of both. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 03-06-2008, 06:07 PM | #74 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | that will be the decider in my opinion. The motors and shafts can be located anywhere.. but the latch is where it needs to be 100 % or it will never close probably __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! I'll be moving to Portugal in a couple months, and I'm going to hunt down the parts from an E46/5 318ti. http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...94&hg=51&fg=05 I'm determined to make those parts fit - I'll let everyone know how it all sorts out by Summer. __________________ Friends don't let friends call it "Beamer".
