Default How do you remove the middle heat vents??

I can't find it in my Haynes book... I was wondering if anyone has done it.

The problem is that as soon as I turn my fan on over 2, the air flow decreases in the middle two vents because the air is causing the flap to close. I need some way to tighten this up, and I need to remove the vents to get to this valve/flap.

Stick a guitar pick in there. I did that years ago and forgot all about it until now. If you find one that matches the color of the vent you won't even think twice about it.

Oh wait a second. a flap inside the vents or the vents themselves?

That is a genius idea! I have a black pick laying around. I'm going to do that when I get my car back. Do you remember what guage pick you used?

I think it was a black Fender pick. Probably a medium.

I just stuck a folded piece of paper in it. Has worked great.

Maybe I should sell the center vent fix kit on ebay? Complete with instructions how to install.

I stuck a little piece of plastic in there a long time ago, worked like a charm.

I'm still curious as to how to remove the center vent if any one knows how...

The vent is in there rather snugly and held in place with tabs on its top and bottom (if memory serves). I found the best approach was to remove the glovebox and push it from the back while depressing tabs and pulling from the front.
