I almost snagged a 2003 with 82,000 miles for $14,000. A friend of mine bought it two years ago, and wanted to upgrade to a new 540. The dealer only wanted to give him 13.5k on trade in, so I had the opportunity to buy it just slightly above that price. The only bad thing was that the car was black, and I don't have the time to put in the TLC needed for a black car in Florida.. If you ever decide to sell that car, I would definitely give yourself time to sell it, and try to stick with people that know BMWs well. To a regular car buyer, or dealer, they don't know the difference between a 330sport, and a ZHP. Used BMW market in Florida has dropped way down. I saw a nicely modded E36 M3, dinan stage2, uuc drivetrain upgrades, etc.., recently listed for best offer over $5k. | | | 08-04-2008, 05:52 PM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | Quote: Originally Posted by mohaughn Love the ZHPs... Damn, I paid $6k for a really beat Clubsport. | | | 08-04-2008, 06:33 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Yeah, the prices around here are pretty good. I would guess it is because of the number of cars in the area. BMWs are nothing special around here.. The same goes for Tampa, Miami, WPB and those areas.. E36s are dime a dozen... I probably wouldn't spend more than 8-9k on any e36 in this areas, unless it was a really low mileage and nicely maintained m3. 2004 and earlier E46's are in the 10-16k range, slightly higher for a good low mileage M3. Most people I know are trying to trade in their cars to get something nicer, and the dealers are trying to steal the cars with really low trade in values. So if you can find somebody that is in a rush to upgrade to a newer car, you can usually come in right above what the dealer offered, and also get a steal. | | | 08-09-2008, 03:06 PM | #19 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Mud Island, TN Posts: 20 | ^ yeah, at one point I thought I wanted to trader her in on a 135i, but, honestly, hearing from a dealer what they think she's worth scares me... I have this new (to me) beater/DD, didn't drive the car for about 8 days, took her out last night to dinner and over to a friends house, WOW! Having a slow DD really makes me appreciate it again and will most likely keep me from THINKING I need something newer/faster/blah blah blah... I really hope to keep her for a LONG time. Now that I have a DD/beater I won't be putting 300+ miles a week on her commuting too/from work =) She's about to roll 72k, originally purchased in May of 2003, I bought her in May of 2006 with just 32,500 on the clock... __________________ Marcus | | | 08-09-2008, 04:12 PM | #20 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | For sure, driving a four banger gives you appreciation of what speed really is! __________________ McLaren F1 - BMW M Power S70/2 | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
