Default Why I love my ti - storage space.

Hey everyone!

I remember talking to Steve when I met him last year and we were talking about the stuff that we can fit in our ti's and his wife's Mini when they go to the track.
I was just browsing through my computer and I just came across some pictures that I took last summer.
This past summer we bought a TV and we didn't have access to our Land Cruiser, so we had to settle for the next best thing...my car. haha
It was a 46" Sony XBR4 (w00t snagged it for an awesome price at the time), we were so surprised that it fit perfectly in my car haha, and the person who saw us out the door was in disbelief after she told us it wouldn't fit.
A few weeks later we got the 52" version but it was just barely too big for my car haha.
Here's the pictures I found.

HOLY OVEREXPOSED PICTURE! lol

^^Halfway out

haha anybody else use their hatch to their fullest?

I had to transport my rims to my house. 17" rims with tires is a lot bigger than you think. After the 3rd wheel, I was afraid that I was going to be forced to put the 4th in the front with my leather seat. But I actually got it all in there! It's funny, with the hatch closed, it looked like I had rims shaped into a really huge speaker/sub system.

The first time I transported rims with tires I folded down the seats like I did with the TV, and it barely fit.
When I got them refinished (18" rims no tires), I put one in the trunk, 2 in the rear seats, and one in the front seat with me, with the seat belts fastened so they didn't move around and hit each other lol.
After I got new tires for them, I realized that I could put all 4 rims with tires in the back seat, neatly organized, standing up haha...Obviously I had to use bags to protect my interior.
I found that to be the best solution when bringing wheels with you.
yeah, regardless of rim size, if the tires have the overall same diameter as stock, they're pretty big.
Did you fold down your seats?

my stock front bumper fit perfect crooked with half the rear seat folded, and 4 15" rims without tires all in a row fit in the trunk without the seats folded and without the deck cover not closing all the way

I've never really had to put anything really big in my ti since my dad has a Ram 2500 though

also, I just remembered, my 5'6-ish friend fit in the hatch when we didn't feel like paying for him at the drive-in theater

No pics but I had 6 or 8 rolls of 50# roofing material with sealants and misc crap. I estimated 500 lbs. Needless to say a couple months later the car was in the shop and they informed me I had a broken rear spring. Just sheared off. I wonder how THAT happened?

Full disclosure: that was my old car and it got a very low mile set of rears. I'm wiser now.

As for wheels, 4 is cake. I've transported 2 full sets inside the car.

Lazoh gave me a carbon hood for swapping a transmission into his old hellrot ti last year. It fit perfectly in the cargo area with the rear seats folded down and the front seats slid forward a little. The hatch closed completely and the hood made it home undamaged.

Well actually, the tires had a much bigger diameter than my stock. And yea, I had to fold down the seats. I layed 2 rims down first. Then I placed the other 2 on top. And when I drove him, they didn't move at all. Of course I drove a little slower and carefuller than usual, but they didn't budge at all!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I gave Bobbak a complete set of sport seats from my Ti. Front and rear. He installed them at my house and then proceeded home with his old seats in his hatch! He actually left one of his fronts with me so I could get a part I needed off it it, but it would have fit with no problem. There was plenty of room left to spare.

I put a huge treadmill in mine with the hatch tied down. No problem.

If you didn't take pics, then I hope you have time to replicate it.

Haha! No thank you - that thing is heavy.

I don't have a photo, but here is a transcript of the audio file:

"Uggggg! Turn it over the other way - wait - owwww! Hold on hold on. Gimme the wrench. Okay, let's try it the other way. Mmmmmgggggg! Is it gonna fit? Oh man, it's close - yeah, it's in.

People are always surprise seeing what we can fit into the little hatch bimmer. I remember someone picked up a M50 or ti engine in the back. I transported two front seats in the back easily and another time two full sets of wheels.

Ok, I'll let you off this once. But don't lemme catch you with only a audio file again.

Oh yea, I moved an entire 318ti seats interior. This was when I changed my interior to leather. Then I had to move polyester interior to storage. And I didn't feel like making 2 trips.
