Seller claimed cluster, power steering, lights, etc didn't work at all and there was no interior other than seats, dash, and center console and the suspension was in bad shape. But after replacing all suspension parts with factory replacements and changing all fuses and putting power steering in the thing and all works great except the cluster the only thing that works on it is the tachometer and when put in on position gauges twitch to indicate they are getting power but no movement and the odometer has read 37,462 sense I have owned it and I have definitely driven it quite a bit sense owning it. So any help would be greatly appreciated on diagnosing the problem I really don't want to spend the money on a new cluster cause around where I live there hard to find and expensive. There must be a nexus point of failure for all of them to quit. Before looking at the schematic and checking each individual input I'd start with, are the plugs on the back of the cluster in all the way and the locks 'clicked'? Is the harness damaged somewhere and are you sure the fuses are good? Check them with a voltmeter or test light on both sides of each with the key on. I think fuse 23 is for the service monitor, tach, switch lights. If this stuff is all good you'll need to get a schematic and start spark chasing each input. The cluster is an intricate electronic devise with a complex circuit board. If all else fails you may need to replace it. | | | 01-02-2021, 01:51 AM | #3 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! If all fuses are good and all lights are on (and you get all idiot lights on with key on, before starting) chances are the cluster is bad. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | 1995 318ti Cluster swap to (98) M3 Cluster Issues.
