Good to hear you got it back.

Just to give them some attitude, tell them PITT / CMU would never treat their students this way.

Why did the school not have your plates read and then contacted you or whoever the car belongs to. Thats seems like a pretty sh!tty thing for the University to do. I got a parking ticket at KSU and they left a ticket, mailed a ticket, and even sent a letter to make sure that I knew about it... And that was for a PARKING TICKET.. Go complain and get reimbursed.
Oh and glad you found your car

you really dont seemed worried.. if i saw my car was missing, i would have called the police right away, and they would have found if it was towed or not faster then i would have.

any updates?

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Standard procedure, the towing companies deliberately take a couple days to drop the paperwork off with the cops.

Its your problem if you don't report it stolen immediately..

Sucks. The Bast***s anyway....

Yeah, the cops were saying next time, just go ahead and treat it as such instead of wasting a couple days trying to track it down.

I guess I wasn't worried because frankly I didn't believe it could have been stolen. . . we've got the EWS-II system, busy street next to the engineering building. . . so I only go worried when I couldn't find anyone who would admit to having towed my car.

I don't understand why the school told you they didn't tow it when they did.

I know somebody locally who had an e46 M3 stolen. When the car was recovered the lock cylinder was destroyed, but they hadn't cut any wiring. Still no clue how they started the car. But a professional thief won't be stopped by EWS.

The bottom line is this. If a thief wants your vehicle bad enough, there isn't an anti-theft tactic in the world that will stop them.

Yeah i know but to start the car you'd need to either replace the DME and EWS or hang around near me enough to somehow sniff and clone my key's code (in addition to a physical clone of the key).

I suppose someone determined to steal my particular car could stalk me and eventually collect all the required stuff. Aside from that, to steal our cars off a busy street during the day would be quite a coup even for the most resourceful thief (excluding tow trucks).

So, my conclusion when I first noticed it gone "I guess I got towed"

then when I go nowhere the next day "Perhaps its somehow not in the police system"

then on friday "fck, could thieves really have been driving around in a tow truck?"
