Turbo - expensive and complicated to do correctly, but good HP gains. Supercharger - expensive and modest HP gains, but the DASC is relatively simple to bolt-on. __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! So I'd definitely get my hands on one, before they decide to discontinue them again. Which I'm sure it wont be long. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. If anything, they'll probably go under long before they sell out of m42/m44 supercharger kits for the price they're asking. @ $3800 for a stage1 kit, the power to wallet ratio is not in their favor. Especially with the price and availablity of wrecked 328's and M3's these days. Most people would opt for a swap that makes more power for less money with more potential for higher boost from less expensive and a wider selection of forced induction applications. Downing Atlanta may make the best supercharger kit for the M42 and M44 engines, but they have no business asking what they're asking for their kits. It's somewhat laughable. They need to wake up and look around at what people are doing these days. Personally I wouldn't spend a penny over 2 grand for a brand spanking new kit with a decent warranty. Now if the kit made 400+hp, that'd be a different story. | | | 06-29-2009, 07:59 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Actually, it's stage 0. I have a 1997 BMW 318 TI. Can you tell me if they stop selling the DASC! I contact also Nick G for the Stage II kit and have no answer about prices. Now I’m trying to contact KO Performance. If you can help me with this contact problem I’ll appreciate. | | | 06-30-2009, 07:57 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | I say Turbo! Just because everyone else has said Supercharger. The SC would be easier. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 07-06-2009, 09:00 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: TX Posts: 140 | $3800 for a blower, a piece of cast aluminum and a bunch of connectors is absurd. I think they'd do much better with considerably higher sales volume at a price point somewhere around $12-1700, considering how many E36 318x m44/m42 are still on the road. Surely they're making a mint with their current component costs and markup every time they sell one. __________________ - '96 Alpinweiß active - 190k mi - CF hood (actually painted), HAI, Bilstein Sports, X-brace, Failed Window Regulator Tint Mod '79 VW Rabbit TD L - Project soon to be 1.9 TDI | | | 07-31-2009, 05:00 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Turbo Charged...Some guy is offereing a free install in Florida. Total cost should be less then $2,000 and you will see same reliability plus more HP. Turbo charged is the new way to go on E36 ti's....I think... xxxJohnBoyxxx | | | 07-31-2009, 05:01 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Will'sBimmer I say Turbo!
