Default Swap vs. SC

well i'm kinda thinking between these 2 options

what would be a better bet for the Ti

between price and reliability and anything else you can think off

There are 2 sections devoted to Swaps and FI... please read/search them.

This topic, like many others, have been beaten to death.

I gotta agree here.
Things to consider are time and money. And how much can you do yourself.
S/C is easier and cheaper.
Swap may have more performance options available.

and well this may be overkill, but if you become bored with the hp you get from a swap-you can chip it or s/c it!!

If weight is the issue, go SC. But the power will only go so far.

Swaps will allow for tons more upgrades, in either the NA or FI direction, but you do add more front-end weight and more power always means more money.

A swap really creates a bigger ripple effect- more torque= faster wear. It is also more involved. A DASC unit is tried and true with much less to go wrong. Also can be removed and resold later. Price wise a DASC is ballpark the same as a M52 swap. S52 motor will be more.

Why don't you tell us about who you are, your expected budget/cash flow and how/where you drive? That would put your Q into context.

Personally I vote DASC because of time in shop, occasional winter driving+my 3 yo daughter and the fact that traction control is disabled when you swap a 6 cyl (unless you get the whole harness). A swap is more potentially a money consumer for me too.

I've had my DASC for over 45,000 miles now. It's a very nice kit. It's just the right amount of power for the 318ti.

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Midnight Autoworks is probably one of the best out there

There are opinions around the forum if you search for them.

HuGo - Don't be a tool.

Avoid Midnight Auto at all costs.

Regardless of your smileys or whatever else you add to your post, you will never be taken seriously.

Stick to DASC. Tried and tested, 318ti.org approved.
