Swap may have more performance options available. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 04-24-2007, 06:14 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: San Francisco Posts: 308 | and well this may be overkill, but if you become bored with the hp you get from a swap-you can chip it or s/c it!! __________________ '99 ti /Mtechnic, Schwartz II, Meyle Control Arms w/Full Metal Ball Joints, PowerFlex poly LCAB's, Pirelli P Zero/Nero 225/50/16, "the d-baffle"...... | | | 04-24-2007, 07:09 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | If weight is the issue, go SC. But the power will only go so far. Swaps will allow for tons more upgrades, in either the NA or FI direction, but you do add more front-end weight and more power always means more money. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 04-24-2007, 07:52 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | A swap really creates a bigger ripple effect- more torque= faster wear. It is also more involved. A DASC unit is tried and true with much less to go wrong. Also can be removed and resold later. Price wise a DASC is ballpark the same as a M52 swap. S52 motor will be more. Why don't you tell us about who you are, your expected budget/cash flow and how/where you drive? That would put your Q into context. Personally I vote DASC because of time in shop, occasional winter driving+my 3 yo daughter and the fact that traction control is disabled when you swap a 6 cyl (unless you get the whole harness). A swap is more potentially a money consumer for me too. __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 04-24-2007, 08:21 PM | #8 | doesn't care about you. It's just the right amount of power for the 318ti. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 04-24-2007, 08:39 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Another one?
