not much you can do, a performance filter, chip and cat-back will get you some moderate gains, after that you're either building a stroker or going forced induction

BTW, the factory exhaust manifold on the M42 is a tube header, you won't see any gains with performance headers

You could stick it on a pallet and FedEx it overnight to the east coast. It'll get there pretty quick.

ROFL Jess, nice thinking there...

I think I can top that: Same day delivery via UPS or FedEx. Anywhere in the continental US you can have your car delivered within hours.

Advantage of using above said services increases your top speed to approximately 700 mph in air; unknown speed on land. Your engine will produce approximately 23,600 pounds of thrust. It is highly recommended that the tires by rated XXX.

Naturally you might want to upgrade the brakes if you go this route. I would recommend brembo calipers along with emergency parachutes and an adjustable spoiler.

LOL,

Umm sorry for not really providing constructive feedback. I just figured I would have some fun

intake, chip, cat back is about all you can do.

headers won't give you any help.

you can do short shifters if you want...doesn't make the engine faster of course but it doesn't hurt overall drivability.

I have hard talk about big bore throttle bodies and stuff but I'm not sure if that would help at all...

not much to be done, without spending a whole lot of money...

start shaving weight of the car, OR swap a 6 cyl into it (most bang for the buck).

but, if you have money to spend - call Metric Mechanic... they have some sweet high reving M42/44 motors available.

I was looking for something like this- got a website or phone #? How much do their engines run, seeing as bavarian auto recycling only wants $1800 for a m52 with trans shipped to my door....hoping to keep the 4 cyl setup though.

Forced induction or motor swap of choice. Save your neg. energy, it wont get you anywhere here.

bav auto recycling motors are crap - in terms of performance... no data to back up any of their claims. they are just stock (replacement) oem engines. $1800 for an M52 shipped is a great price, however (!), for a factory spec / rebuilt long block.

my fully built & balanced Metric 4 banger was 7K.

good luck...

I do love the idea of keeping the 4 cyl and after looking through everything the lowest thing they offer is the rally kit for $5000, which isnt to bad..but putting 5k towards a 6 cyl gives you so much more power
