Hey guys i would like some more power(use to drive a 99 mustang) so im considering an engine swap. What are the pros and cons of swapping? What would be the best engine to use? My concerns: Will all of my sensors still work? Will the check engine light always be on? Mpg?? would i need to relocate the battery to the trunk? While an S52 would be awesome, they are usually considerably more expensive. Plus, there are plenty of mods that can be done to the M52 to get more power. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 08-29-2009, 05:17 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Gilbert Posts: 621 | +1 Dave __________________ *IF ITS FAST AND CHEAP, ITS NOT RELIABLE* *IF ITS CHEAP AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT FAST* *IF ITS FAST AND RELIABLE, ITS NOT CHEAP* | | | 08-29-2009, 06:10 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: Charlotte / Thomasville NC Posts: 240 | His car is a 1995 so I'd vote for a early non-vanos M50... They can be had CHEAP and they make the Ti one fun little car. Have helped many, many people go fast this way. Let me know.... easy to find me on the web. Alex Lipowich Dropping a Euro in would cost surprisingly less than you think today due to my motivation to move some. They bolt right in literally, EWS is not a problem, I can walk you through that. In a 95, its super easy. Only issue is radiator upgrade and exhaust. OK, add one wire if you want to hook up the oil temperature and use the Euro Cluster that I include... 321 stock hp.... any dealer can service. No CEL and you're DONE...a good four letter word in my book! (S54 transplant kits coming too, but that will be a different story with SEM and all sorts of the cool stuff that comes with that like adjustable TC and such) | | | 09-14-2009, 10:28 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Alex, just curious... was there a euro M52 with aluminum block (like the Z3 2.8) that yielded higher horsepower? My spidy senses say no but thought I'd throw it out there. Also, got any of those sweet euro 6 speeds? __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
