Blower

For erratic and now possibly totally non-functional blower operation could one rule out the possibility of it being the resistor pack if it was not working at any setting. I heard on max the resistor pack was bypassed so it was not the pack if you had problems at max setting. Could one check the actual dial in the car for a problem, I used to smoke alot in car and the dial is just another type of resistor I thought.

I just do not want to buy a resistor pack if I do not need one, I have been down under the blower cover and found the pack but if it is not likely the problem I will dig out the blower and check the brushes first.

I assume I can rule out a possibly overcharged ac as being the cause of this problem.
