Plenty of info in the knowledge base section. Most important thing to take note of is the cooling system. Never ever let the engine overheat. Not for a second. If you see the temp needle rise above 12 o'clock, shut the engine off immediately. edit; Trikzta beat me to it. | | | 11-28-2011, 02:31 AM | #4 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | insert "HA!" here. | | | 11-28-2011, 02:35 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2011 Location: Ohio Posts: 18 | I will post pictures when it's light out tomorrow or next day, but cooling components. First, BMW used the same window regulator on the 318ti that they used on the e36 sedan. The e36 sedan has smaller doors, thus smaller windows. In short, they used a regulator that does not accomodate the 318ti's coupe "sized" window very well. Second, the grease they used hardens and turns into a paste after about 10 years. Once this happens, it causes the regulator arms to bind up in the tracks and the balls pop out of the plastic sliders. I know this may sound Greek to you right now, but when you hear the clunk for the first time, you'll know exactly what we're refering to, lol. BTW, there's some excellent writeups regarding the cooling system as well as the window regulators located in the knowledge base section of this forum. Another site that will prove to be helpful is realoem.com. You can find any part number that you'll ever need on that site. When it comes to purchasing parts, you my want to check out getbmwparts.com and pelicanparts.com. Edit; WolferJ beat me to it. Seems like you are going to start having fun right away. If you ain't fixing something on the ti then you ain't driving it enough. Anyone who buys a ti will have to become a DIY type of person as they will never stop needing something but all part of the fun of owning one. __________________ | | | 11-28-2011, 05:36 PM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: San Jose, Costa Rica Posts: 17 | I would say front suspension could also be a problem, I would keep an eye on that. | | | 11-28-2011, 05:44 PM | #15 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2011 Location: pa Posts: 10 | welcome man! i Just joined to and i have gotten a lot of help from everyone. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
