Haha. I had a friend that had a fully gutted civic hatch, the very small hatch ones. Plus engine swap. He was doing high 12's low 13's. | | | 03-29-2006, 01:51 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | We used to have two ti's, one manual, one automatic. The auto was only about 1 second slower out of the hole. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 03-29-2006, 02:39 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Montclair, VA Posts: 338 | torque's underrated... you could try a performance flywheel, perhaps.. or maybe a wider exhaust outlet from the block i dunno, maybe a stronger crankshaft longer stroke transmission?? i'm more into cosmetics, and stock engine | | | 03-29-2006, 03:15 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | so a standard isnt much faster __________________ was the 1 an only Bagged Ti on 19's!! | | | 03-29-2006, 03:48 PM | #6 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Umm buy a different car. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 03-29-2006, 03:53 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Only slightly. It doesn't feel that way though because the launch is different. I forget how to get the best launch using an auto, but you definitely have to use two feet. Also try searching for the "sport setting" of the auto tranny. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 03-29-2006, 03:56 PM | #8 | doesn't care about you. A stronger crankshaft will do NOTHING, unless you turbo or supercharger the motor. Longer stroke transmission, I'm not sure what this is, but if you change your rear diff to a 3.73, or something like that, it'll feel faster, but 1st gear will be pretty much worthless. dguzzardo22 - You need to do some searching on the forum before posting a question like this. Every newbie posts the same question "my car is slow, how do i make it fast for cheap?" The answer is always the same - either buy a different car or be prepared to stick at least $3500 into your car. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 03-29-2006, 04:04 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Montclair, VA Posts: 338 | oh btw i was hoping someone would clear up what i thought would work as i said, i'm more into cosmetics.. engines not so much | | | 03-29-2006, 04:47 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | not bad halomeamin, but what do you do when the cosmetics are done? i prefer the if it ain't broken, don't fix it. however, when parts fail on your car, replace them with uprated parts, like urethane bushings, sport shocks & springs, etc... __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: • Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust • Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators • M3 17" Wheels • De-Baffled Air Box • AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob • DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings • Chrome Interior bits •IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs • Kenwood Power Series Audio • Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers • Sports Seats | | | 03-29-2006, 04:56 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Montclair, VA Posts: 338 | that's when i buy another car a faster one. and more and more cosmetics | | | 03-29-2006, 04:57 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | If you want torque get an S/C or swap to a 6 cylinder. Neither of those are cheap. | | | 03-29-2006, 06:54 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Buy a breaker bar, they provide lots of torque. It's kind of like a ratchet with a really long handle for greater mechanical advantage (torque). You use this to take the lug nuts off your wheels, not to make your car faster. You can apply this principle by putting in a different differential to lower your gear ratio to get more torque. I hear that you can also apply this principle by having a longer crankshaft. If you have a m42, then the m44 is longer (but weaker). There was a guy from South Africa that put in a m47? crank, which is even longer, but m47 engines are rare because they were in e46 diesels. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
