My new ti website

Just moved from NJ to AR and am going to be selling my ti. It was a lot of fun getting her built. Going the 4X4 route. Much more riding and clubs here for that. Check out the website I made for the sale. I know I'll never recoup the tons of $$$$ I put into her. What's the best/worst case $ I can get? Maybe not what would YOU would pay but more like what's it worth? Thanks in advance

Beautiful car. If I were looking at buying it (and i really wish I was) if everything felt good to me and was straight, which appears like it would be without question, Id be willing to pay a good amount. I can't say that I really know what the worth would be so this could be a bad number but I would be willing to pay in the neighborhood of +/- $7500 for the car. Again, I can't say that I really know what its worth and this is just an off the top of my head number not meant to insult or get your hopes up. GLWS!!

I had a 1974 2002tii similar to your 1600 and a '68 Mustang. Both great cars. At the bottom of my ti webpage, I wrote "Over 18K invested". That is a true statement and I have all receipts to prove it. I know I'll never get that unless of course, a high school kid from the United Emirates of Dubai has his parents ship it to him, LOL! What's a realistic price I can ask for? I thought I'd try autotrader.com, craigslist, ebay & bimmerforums.com to start. Thanks again

I wish I had a tii but the 1602 was my dads first car which he bought back in '84 so thats not going anywhere, I think we're gonna do a huge complete restoration on her in the next couple years, covering suspension upgrades and engine upgrades to essentially make it a 1602tii, not really correct but its what my dad always wanted the car to be and the sentimental value will always be the cars worth, not its $$$ value. As for the mustang, its a pig in my opinion, sure its great to drive around town in and get looked at by the ladies but the steering is so vague, the brakes are basically nonexistent and its gets about 5 MPG, never more than 8. Although, she hauls for a 45 year old piece of American metal.


As for your ti I think the worth is really going to be up to the buyer. I bet theres some ti enthusiasts like us out there who aren't on this site (who knows why but I met a ti enthusiast the other weekend at a solo who lives 10 miles away from me and has never heard of the org) but these guys would probably pay a pretty penny for such a nice example.

Haha thanks, I dont appreciate when older guys dispel anything from me because of my age and by being more (I already am pretty bad) OCD with my language when posting it helps validate my knowledge or opinions so its nice to see someone notice. Although, I won't be a teen for much longer, I turn 20 next January. Anyways good luck with your sale, if I hadn't just bought a '02 325ci I would've jumped on this, its truly one of the finest I've seen.

Autotrader always lists more ti's than Cars.com. Listing it nationally is a good idea. Heavily modded cars have a more limited market than bone stock cars that are in good shape. That said, you need just one ti guy to fall in love with it...and ti aficionados as a group like mods. I would think that the car should bring 5k at a minimum if you aren't in a big hurry to sell. IMHO, teenti was in the ballpark when he said ~$7500 at the top end. If you are willing to hold out for that one enthusiast who absolutely must have a 328 swap just like your car, then you might push $8k, but it's going to take you some time and effort to find that exact buyer. Realistically, if you can get a cash offer between $5-7k, that would be a fairly reasonable price for both buyer and seller. ...and if you think that is criminal (which it is) for a car that has had $18k invested in it, go check out what E24 635's are going for. Many of those cars cost over $50k when new in the late 1980's and now can be purchased for a mere $3-5k

All that said, teenti also speaks the truth when he said that it is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. GLWS!

Here is the dilemma in my opinion. You have one of the finest examples of one of the most unpopular BMW ever brought into the US. It is also a car that BMW should have made. Finally it was just before it's time. Hot hatches weren't that popular in the late 90's. With that in mind, your audience is very limited and isn't wiling to pay top dollar for a 'converted' model. Unfortunately, the TI with the age and the price point and the lack of popularity won't get you a 'collectible' price. Enthusiasts tend to be be younger and are price conscious. (There are exceptions). All that being said, I just paid around 5K for a super clean 98 Ti and just around 10 for a super clean 99 z3 coupe and that's in the Seattle where the market is better than the rest of the country.

I concur with the rest of the posters. I think asking 8K is a good starting point. Anything higher will be very difficult.

FWIW I paid ~$500 above KBB private sale price for my ti in 2000.
Needed exhaust and tires.
Owner was motivated to sell though.

If I had spare cash I'd consider another swapped ti.

That is one of the most beautiful ti's I've ever seen. You really took good care of her. I don't know what your local market is like, but my mechanic (independent specializing in BMW and Mercedes) said that he has a customer who recently paid $12K for a Club Sport in mint condition. I think that is extreme, but there are people out there willing to pay for a well-maintained ti. It's going to depend on hooking up with that special buyer. Best of luck! If you decide to sell those rims separately, please PM me. I'll probably have to sell my beloved Colt King Cobra .357 to raise the cash, but for those rims I'd consider it!
